What a difficult question. I loved them both. When it comes to writing lyrics and music - the Beatles win there. I loved their songs and John and Paul knew how to write a song. But for me ELVIS IS THE KING He was a singer and a performer. His movies were way better than the Beatles ones.(I know he wasnt a great actor - but they werent either). He did a great deal more material with a much wider range. (OK so Ringo sung Yellow Submarine and ....). I didnt like all of his stuff, but others liked the bits I didnt. (I hate Blue Suede Shoes etc - I liked the ballads). I so wanted to look like him. Women melted in his presence. OK women freaked over the Beatles but not in the same way. Their music lives on - but his face lives on as well as his music. Elvis was a performer. The Beatles sung on stage, but Elvis had the 'Je ne sais quoi'. He filled the stage. (Freddie Mercury had that..). So the King is dead but his music lives on.

The Beatles. They wrote thier own stuff, were very talented muscians, were innovative, and were political. Without them Rock and Roll and history would have never evolved the way it did. Elvis had a good voice and a great stage presence, but he was just doing what his handlers told him too.

They were good in each and their own way. Elvis was a one-man show. The Beatles had to work together as a group. Personally, I love The Beatles more. But, Elvis is always the King of Rock 'n Roll in my book.

I do not have an absolute answer, and it would probably depend on how "better" were defined. Both of them have made a lot of good songs and gave us a lot, I think. As far as I am concerned, I received much more from the Beatles because I started to buy my own music at the time where they started to be famous. The first record I ever bought was Help. After that, they accompanied me on my way and remained a big reference, even after I discovered other interprets (for instance Elvis Presley). And I found it interesting to follow their evolution.

Elvis was a personality, his voice was good and his songs were popular, but he wasn't a musical genius. The Beatles were musical geniuses. Their music is already classic and will persist because it is so good. It is covered by all types of musical styles and by many artists. It isn't simply rock, or popular. It's music!

Well Elvis inspired the beatles and tp quote john Lennon him self, "before elvis there was nothing". Also Elvis had more NO.1 s, Made more money and his carrer lasted longer that the beatles... Elvis is also the only artist ever to be in 4 differant hall sof hame for genre, rock, ballad,blues and gospel, so he is far more versatile... allthough don't get me wrong, teh beatles are a good band.

I am a die hard beatles fan, april 10th is like the worst day of the year for me, but after watching several documentaries on them, they consistently say how they were heavily influenced by Presley.. I wouldn't consider one to be better than the other, because they had different styles as musicians. But IMO, Elvis was the better vocalist, but Beatles had more original material.

Elvis did not do it for me. He was too far away from my generation. I do love The Beatles, and remember being a very small girl wondering what the fuss was over a band playing on a rooftop (it was the last time they played together as a band).

I could never fathom Presley's appeal besides having a good voice. But then I was not born when he first became popular whereas I was six years old when The Beatles hit. Much rather listen to the best of The Beatles any day.
