When I lived in Mass. they were called package stores... Here in NH we call them liquor stores. I think because in Mass. they were the only places you could buy beer/wine/spirits. In NH you can buy beer or wine at any store and buy the hard stuff only at liquor stores.

i usually call it whatever the locals call it since i've lived in so many places. here's an added name, class 6 store. that's what it's called on u.s. military bases ;)
