  • Thank you for your answer. I hope the JW"s keep up the good work. I will support them in everything they do for Jehovah God.

Too bad they are preaching a false gospel... and a false Jesus. Good work for them... not for God.
  • No, 6.7 million is not at all inflated. There are now 1 million active Jehovah’s Witnesses in The United States alone. By active, I mean that they are active in the ministry each month). Of the 1 million active Witnesses in the USA, 100,000 of those are in the full time preaching work. edit- update 4/24/07 At the end of August 2006 there where 6,741,444 ACTIVE publishers of the good news. There are quite a few people who are not active who would identify themselves as Jehovah’s Witnesses.

  • The official published membership statistics only include those who have reported preaching activity. 'Inactive' members, who have either not been involved in preaching or have not submitted reports, are not included in the reported figures but may be reflected in the attendance at the Witnesses' annual Memorial, with over 16.6 million attending in 2006.[51]
  • i have no idea, but they always seem to choose MY door... i was ill with the after affects of flu at the weekend, and lo, who should cometh but a J.W., complete with slicked back hair and bright 'i-am-to-be-redeemed-and-you're-not' smile. grrr. and yes, he did have a briefcase.
  • I am amazed at the cockamammy comments of some that write this website about my religion. i want to think that it is for the most part ignorant innocence instead of malicious ignorance.
    • Gone!
Some people don't like to hear the truth or facts about their 'religion'.
  • we are nearing almost 7 million in fulfillment of the prophecy in revelation that a great crowd will survive the great tribulation. according to revelation 7:9 it states that this great crowd would come out of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues. interesting though that it doesn't say they would be of all religions. anyways, this great crowd will survive armageddon and step into the new system of things that Jehovah's kingdom will usher in after the destruction of disobedient mankind. as regards to the 144,000 they will be ruling with our Lord Jesus Christ as kings and priests as found in revelation 20:6 of not just our Bible like many think, but in all Bibles.

Yes... it's a bit of a twisting of the truth. Yes... the words are in the BIBLE, but the definition of their meaning is out of context. Without the TEXT, it's just a CON.

  • What a bunch of crap this Jehova Wittness stuff is. Couple of my co-workers are Jehova and they are the sweetest people. They are looking for a faith to follow and really do believe in God but the people ontop in charge of the whole operation are wolves. They brain wash you and take your money. Sneaky bastards. They look for innocent people who are pure and gullable so they can sucker them in to the bull shit. That's why they come to your door recruiting more people to have as slaves. Co-worker that we just hired at my firm lived at the Watch Tower worked for them 10 YRS and all they gave him was free food and board. He worked so hard for them and has no money after 10 years. They pimped him. Sorry not me.
    • Butterflies67
No, your attitude is not humble enough. Jehovahs Witnesses do not "recruit". No one can become a JW just like that! More is involved, plus you, yourself, want it. JWs are not brain washed. They just see that the Bible gives you a better live and a far better future than anything this world can give you. Someone who works for the WT does get an allowance as well as his board and food. So I think you have mis understood what your co-worker told you.
  • Well, let me see ... this many knock on my door every month ... assuming no duplicates and a distribution of .... and extrapolating that .... wowww, way WAY too many!!!
  • More than 144,000
  • There is almost 7 million. Maybe, just MAYBE, it has something to do with the fact that they answer all of your questions from the Bible. Even your own Bible if you don't trust their translation. My parents were raised Catholic and none of their priests could ever answer anything they asked.

  • as far as I am concerned way too many. I am sick and tired of the JW's not supporting the government yet reaping the benefits. I was at a graduation and they played the National Anthem and these 2 JW's just sat there... totally disgusting... If they do not support what our country stand for then they should go find an island and live there.
    • Butterflies67
We obey whatever Government is in power. we just do not vote for any particular one. Like every one else, they pay their taxes so they do not scrounge off the government. All pensioners have paid their contributions throughout their working life so are entitled to a pension, they have paid their National Health contributions so are entitled to use the health service. As to those who did not stand for the National Anthem, that is a personal choice, but normally we show respect for the Queen and anyone in authority. B ut you can be grateful for the fact that they do not go to war. So if ever anyone you know is killed, maimed or injured through terrorism or war - it was not a JW that did it!
    • BJA
Unlike many professed christians that spit on or burn the flag, you would never see a JW's doing that.
  • Tabitha ,, as to how many hours a J.W.do each month there is no set time one must do each does the preaching to one's own decision ,,, the purpose of the preaching work is to reach as many people to let them know the critical times we are living in as stated in the Bible . (2 Timothy 3:1-5) But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away. (Psalm 37:9-11) For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth. 10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. (Psalm 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it. (Matthew 24:3-14) While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?” 4 And in answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads YOU; 5 for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6 YOU are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that YOU are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress. 9 “Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU, and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. 10 Then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and mislead many; 12 and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. 13 But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. 14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
  • I have known Jehovah's Witnesses, and their "rules" are nothing less than cultist. If you break their rules, you can't speak to your own immediate family memebers. No Witness will speak to you, and you are shunned from the church until you "repent". Sorry guys, but it's this kind of behavior that meets the very definition of a cult. And yes, those numbers are inflated greatly. Just like the people who translated their bible, they keep the information and names of those responsible a secret so it cannot be challenged. Ask a Witness for the names of the people who translated their bible so you can ask them questions and verify the translation - they won't give them to you, because it's a secret. Ask them for the records to prove their attendance and memebership - they won't give them to you, because it's a secret. No, not at all a cult... lmao

  • And, aren't the 7 million only counting baptized publishers? There are quite a few JWs that just don't bother turning in their time. I'm one of 'em. I do quite a bit of preaching, but believe the time spent is for me and God to know. I don't care to flaunt it.
    • Gone!
Good point. It is always between 'you and God'. I always find "baptized publishers" and odd way to describe themselves. Not scriptural. Not Christian. Just... odd.
    • Butterflies67
But it is! Isaiah 52 v 7 reads "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace, that bringeth good tidings of good that publisheth salvation that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth"
  • Brucey wants to call me a liar. Well, little brucey, lets break it down for ya. Fact: If Witnesses break certain rules they are shunned, and even their immediate family members are not allowed to speak to them. This FACT cannot be disputed because it's real and I challenge anyone to confirm it. Fact: The people who translated the New World Translation (aka Green Dragon) do not have their names published. You cannot go to them and ask them to verify their transaltion because the church refuses to publish their names because (this is where I really start to lmao) they say it is a matter of supressing pride, or boasting. What a crock. This FACT can be verified and I challenge anyone who thinks I am lying to bring me the names. Fact: The raw data collection records of attendance and membership are not made public, and the JW's hold them in private for church administrators only. I challenge anyone to produce more than prepared statistics. Time to step up, baby brucey.
  • Worldwide, now over seven million...up from 3.5 million in 1990.
  • Sadly... there are many that are duped by this destructive cult. I don't know the numbers, I just know that there are more than "their" promised 144,000. The rest have no hope of heaven. Although many are good, friendly, and kind... if they are JW's they would (and are supposed to) tell you that you are going to hell if you are not part of "their" organization. That's the bottom line.
    • Gone!
Let me correct myself. They don't believe in hell. You will be obliterated.
    • Butterflies67
Personally I do not wish to go to Heaven. I am quite happy with the promise of living forever here on the earth. The Psalmist wrote, at Ps 115 v 16 "As to the Heavens, they belong to Jehovah. But the earth he has given to the sons of men". Also in Psalm 37 we see the promise that man will live on the earth in peace and unity. As to "hell", yes it exists, but not as a fiery place of torment, but the common grave of mankind.
  • Most recent statistics is that we're nearing 9 million.
    • Texasescimo
      Yup
  • The 2017 year book shows that there are 8,132,358 Witnesses worldwide with over 20 million attending the Memorial in 2016. As there are an average of 5000 a week getting baptised, this number is increasing and is now probably nearer 9 million.
