  • stuff your face with chips and cakes and drink as much Coke as you can manage or eat nothing but KFC from now on until you die (in about 2 years). Perserve with this - think quantity not quality - shovel as much food in your mouth as you can as often as you can and stay as still as possible because movement burns calories so do as little as possible. Rest assured, you will soon become the big fat bloater and look like walrus. On a serious note, it is worth remembering that we are what we are and some of us (the lucky ones) are not great big, huge framed, muscle bound hulks. Some of us are lean and athletic and no matter what we eat, we stay lean. If this is the case and you want to change how you look (a bit), then get yourself to your local gym, find an instructor and book yourself an hours worth of his/her time and discuss this with them. Gym instructors generally know their stuff and will advise you about weight training (not LIFTING) which will tone your body and so on. Bear in mind thought, that you can only make so much difference to what you have and you have to make the best of what you've got and work with it and not against it to change it. Why not aim for getting fit instead of bigger, defined and toned instead of larger. So go to the gym and speak to those that know this stuff and can tell you what is what and what to do and to expect. Take a list of questions with you so you don't forget to ask things you want to know, stay away from build-up formulas, the powder stuff body builders take mixed with water to increase muscle mass and so on - eat healthily instead. First time in a gym can make you nervous, but worry not, these places are not full of perfect people that all look good and you will be shown how to use equipment and can ask for a fitness plan. Give it a go because however nervous you are the first visit it will pale compared to the confidence you will gain from just going. You don't have to have trendy sports stuff, you don't have to shower after a session or do any of that stuff, you can go, do your thing and go home for everything else besides. Oh and you don't have to watch yourself in the mirror while there either (nightmare), they have TV's to watch instead and take your IPOD. Have fun.

Alternatively you could try getting involved in some sport such as rugby for example or sumo wrestling that involve practising with weights in order to increase muscle mass. • Eat more calories than your body burns in a day. Easily achievable with regular and healthy food. Many people who claim they "can't gain weight", simply don't realise that they're not eating a huge amount. It's all down to appetite, and sometimes you find you need to 'encourage' yourself to eat more. Some days I find I don't have much of an appetite, and I do force myself, but other days, I find that I need to put the breaks on my eating. A good tip would be olive oil. You can literally put some in a shot glass or two and slam them back, and additionally add some to your food. It's quick, healthy, and doesn't really fill you up, but it adds a large number of calories to your daily intake.
