You are referring to what is known as "evolution toe". Don't know if this is the way apes and monkeys are. My second toe is just "ever so" shorter than my big toe. You should ask how many people have "webbed toes" next.

Mine are close to being the same length. My second toe is a bit shorter though. I think my dad has the "hammertoe" thing.

Actually, a 'hammertoe' is not about length. A hammertoe is bent sharply to one side, usually at the 'knuckle' just below where the toes connect to the foot. My mother had a severe hammertoe, because of wearing pointed shoes so much as a child and adult. (she was born in 1922)

Stop, it isn't Hammer Time for me. My Big Toe is longer. I have perfectly sized toes in accordance to how they should be. I am grateful in this regard.

Yes. And my podiatrist said that lotsa people who have longer second toes develope "hammer" toe. I'm starting to develop it myself. I now have orthotics as I also have a neuroma in the ball of my foot and both are from having to wear heels to work every day and cramming my feet into those pointed toes. Truly.
