Yeah, it's kind of fun. Really brings the xmas spirit of killing a tree to life.

When I was a child about 60 years ago, we used to go up in the Colorado mountains and find the perfect tree out of the millions and millions that were there. My Dad would cut it down, and we would have a fresh, beautiful tree for the celebration. It was a lot of fun.

We walked through a "cut your own" place one year.Everyone had their little hand saws, snow on the ground, kind of a christmassy setting. The look I got from everyone when I fired up my huskavarna chainsaw?Priceless. Yea it was only a 3 inch diameter tree trunk but it was all I had!

My family had a tradition of growing a tree for each child, and when they turn 13 they cut it down for that year's Christmas. I really liked that.

When I was younger and we lived in North Carolina we used to go out and cut down our own tree!

We never had a natural three inside the house, my mom used to decorate the house beautifully plus light up the garden trees.

No, but I think it would be a great thing to start doing with my kids!

Yes...when you live on a farm, cutting a Christmas tree is a good way to keep the cedars cleaned out of the hot wire.
-
Yep, up the street (in smalltown, rural/suburban MI) is a treefarm, so we were helping the local economy, and getting ourselves the freshest tree. Afterwards, we composted the branches, and the next year the trunk was our Yule log. Also, my first bf's family owned another treefarm, and our first date was x-country skiing through it...quite sweetly magical, after a New Year's party he threw to meet me.
