  • I never really did, except when I was little and my mom would drag us over there.
  • Because I became a firm believer in atheism. So why would I go to church? I mean, I could go there to flirt with attractive women, but I'd imagine a lot of Christians would find that... objectable and rude.
  • Because of the restraining order! :D
  • Considering I've never gone, it would be hard to go anymore
  • Because I don't see the point. You shouldn't have to be a particular place to worship, it can be done anywhere, anytime.
    • pugwashjw65
The idea of a church building comes from this,,, (Hebrews 10:25) not forsaking our meeting together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you see the day drawing near. A meeting place for a like minded group... It does not have to be like a cathedral...
    • Richard Jason Wilson
Because religion is man made by MEN not god...it's ALL based on astro-theology it's very easily explained all if it and the biggest load of shit.
    • ReiSan
      Gods do not exist.

Matthew 6:6 "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
    • ReiSan
The Bible is merely poor fiction, so quoting it is futile.
  • What for? It's a boring miserable waste of time.
  • I don't believe in God anymore so it seemed kind of pointless to keep going to church.
    • pugwashjw65
what you may believe does not change the final outcome...(Psalm 37:9) For evil men will be done away with, But those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth. (Psalm 37:29) The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.
    • ReiSan
Gods do not exist, and holy books are merely quite poor fiction.
  • The church would fall down if i step in it.
  • Oh, but I do! I just got back a little while ago. Its the highlight of my week.
  • Church is simply another opportunity for people to show how pious they are. It's a public display meant for other people, and it really doesn't have much to do with worshipping God himself. Even Jesus said that it's better to pray in your room rather than in public, because then we can focus on God and not on how righteous we look. If God is everywhere, and he cares for each individual person, then why should we need to approach him through a minister or priest? Who says we can't take a private walk in the woods and worship God through the appreciation of his creations? Church is simply a means of social control, and a way to inculcate bourgeois values. After all, only people in the middle class and above can go to church, because poor people are often looked down on for not being clean or lacking nice clothes to wear. If God accepts us who we are, then why is there such an emphasis on physical appearance? Yet many people in the churches that I've visited treat Sunday service like a fashion show, a chance to display their fancy new outfits. Also, poor parishioners might not be able to contribute much to the offering plate. A couple of times a month, my former pastor would cry for money, not because he wanted the congregation to worship God, but so we could worship the new organ or pay for his salary increases and subsidize his golf games. The church has become a very classist institution, much like the fundraising dinners for elite art galleries and museums. They are only welcoming to people who are wealthy enough to have nice clothes and plenty of money to give. I am a self-supporting college student, and after tuition is paid, I don't have enough money for nice suits or outfit, so I wouldn't dare set foot in a church. Everyone would look down on me the moment they saw me wearing jeans, sandals, and a suitable (but not dressy or expensive) casual blouse.
    • pugwashjw65
The Bible example of the poor widow who gave only two coins of little value shows that tithing of 10% and large donations are not required...If any pastor demands a fixed amount, he is wrong...
  • With all due respect, your opening sentence made me want to laugh. I went to church 2-3 times a week every Sunday from birth til age 18, so I think I know whence I speak. My experience may not apply to all churches, but the ones I've attended were more concerned with external appearances than with providing spiritual support. Even the Bible says we don't need to go to an organized church for spiritual fellowship, because God said, "Where two or more are gathered in my name, there I will be also." Even if you gather for worship and fellowship with a few friends or family members, that's still an opportunity for spiritual growth.
    • BarElohim
Right! Since the people that believe and receive Christ are the " Church!" The Church isn't a building or organization, but an organisim.
  • Outta grammar school now! ;-)
  • I am no longer a believer of a god.
  • I never will because i don't want to have people imposing me to join. There u will feel u r protected because u feel that in god's eyes he will accept u. Well, i apologize but world is cruel in many more ways u can imagine. Not that i need God, he has never helped me, if wanted to score a decent grade, who was the one that spent hours studying till 4am in the morning? Me! God is making himself a fool, doesn't he know we know better than to go in the shelter of the unfortunate?
  • Hypocrisy.
  • Most modern churches are little more than expensive social clubs.
  • had a falling out with a catholic priest and decided to research other world religions. at some point i realized they are all the same, and that the true message is simply to live in a manner that is conducive to societies survival.
  • Because I always catch fire just past the entry way.
  • 1: it's boring 2: It's tends to try to suck my bank account dry 3: it's boring 4:I have better things to do with my time, then get bit$^ed at for being who I am. 5:It's boring 6:there's no point to it
  • I've moved to a small town recently and want to learn about the local churches before I start attending those that might "fit". I don't want any hurt feelings if I start going somewhere else. (You have to be careful in small towns.)
    • Linda Joy
Many have web pages nowadays have you perused them?
  • No fit girls there and it's very religious and dull.
  • Because I found out that Religions never give you a direct experience of God..... ...Just talking about God doesn't fulfill our enlightenment..... And no amount of Scripture quoting will ever give one a direct experience of that Absolute truth within...... Thus I realized that the one true church is within this temple of life that we enjoy...... God exists within you as you and all that we need is to look within and embrace Christ Consciousness...... We need nothing else.
    • Linda Joy
I liked this and agreed until the very end. I need guidance and instruction, but the main part is inside you and we can have direct contract with God through the Holy Spirit in Jesus name because He paid the price for my reconciliation with God and my ability to speak to him directly.
  • Churches way too often today are little more than social clubs of too many people who do not have any idea what the Bible actually says. Most know very little beyond what the preacher says. Most preachers are required to tickle the ears of their social club church even if they do know the true Word of God will not teach it for fear of losing their job. I must say however I am very much a true Liberated Christian who studies and learns the true Word of the Bible. I don't know it all but I keep studying and learning. I am currently studying the Book of Enoch and the Book of Adam and Eve, Very interesting reading.
  • I no longer believe in gods. My studies of sciences and skeptics made me lose my religion.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Jesus said human beings are gods in Earth. (John 10:34) All gods have the authority to govern certain positions, places and even households.
    • Venus1485
Jesus never existed, so he didn't really say anything. I don't boss anyone or allow anyone to boss me. My boyfriend and I have a relationship based upon equality.
    • Jenny_Rizzo
He didn't "really" say anything? Then obviously He did. The correct phrase you should have used if you were certain: so he didn't say anything. Quote: "I don't boss anyone or allow anyone to boss me." I'm bossing you around by correcting you. *Facepalm*
    • ReiSan
This Jenny is purely evil. She insults people who know her beliefs are nonsense. Venus1485 did not say any specific person is bossing her. Jenny lies again. She flagrantly violates many rules in the Bible and is so self-righteous. She is depicable.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
ReiSan, you are too sensitive. lol
    • Venus1485
Fictional characters don't really say anything. Authors of fiction have their characters say nd do things that aren't real. I din't mention any names when I discussed bossing. Jenny vastly overestimates her importance. She can't boss me. I meant that fictional Jesus doesn't boss me. I agree with ReiSan. Jenny is a typical Christian hypocrite who ignores Bible rules that are inconvenient for her. She hates anyone who doesn't share her na?ve beleifs that have no supporting evidence.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
How are you sure to know they are fictional characters? Claiming to be a Christian has not been working for you. Quote: "Jenny vastly overestimates her importance. She can't boss me." It is my pleasure to boss you around, and Answerbag does not have a limit of adding comments. Jesus is worthy of your time. Quote: "I meant that fictional Jesus doesn't boss me." Jesus lives within you. He is pleased when you think of Him. I don't believe in unicorns. This is why unicorns are not worthy to discuss. Jesus is worthy of your time.
    • ReiSan
71% of the people of the world and 99.54% of them in Japan do not think Jeebuss is worth their time.
    • Jenny_Rizzo
Not everyone is chosen. It doesn't matter if people in little Hiroshima reject the Gospel. That's their right to accept what they want. What matters is that Christianity leads all religions.
    • Venus1485
Appeal to popularity is illogical. Logic and Truth matter far more than what deluded people believe. There's no firm evidence for any gods.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Quote: "Appeal to popularity is illogical." It's the majority you are going by. So again, Christianity leads all religions. I am a goddess. The evidence of the gods is based in the existence of humanity.
    • Venus1485
There's as much evidence for Zeus, Jove, Odin, etc. as for God, i.e. none at all for any gods.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
The majority of people are not concerned with the Greek gods. They are concerned with the leading religions, just like you are.
    • ReiSan
There is just as much evidence for yhe ancient Greek gods as for any others, i.e. none whatsoever.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
ReiSan, those Greek stories are called myths. If there was just as much evidence as you say, why would there be so many gods to worship?
    • ReiSan
Mo, Jenny makes no sense. There are many gods because there is the same amount of evidence for all of them, and that is none at all.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
ReiSan, the gods are simply human beings. As for a supreme Deity, the Bible describes God as wind, energy, light and fire. To know the meaning of a God, you have to compare the God of the Bible to all other so-called gods. You cannot prove anything with other religious books.
  • ALL the churches, but one, have stopped using the Bible as their guide. Like,,,which one...and only one...is obedient to this... (Matthew 28:19, 20) Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.
    • Jenny_Rizzo
Good answer. Without a "divine source," a believer does not have a spiritual sword. Hebrews 4:12 "For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
    • Linda Joy
      My Church does.
    • Jenny_Rizzo
Linda Joy, Christendom also claims they use the Bible. pugwashjw65 made a good point in Matthew 28:19, 20. Mainstream churches are too lazy to go out and make disciples. The Jehovah's Witness are known for knocking on people's doors. So is the SDA church that is on the rise. We have evangelists who knock on people's doors to give Christian books and to proselytize.
    • pugwashjw65
Good comment Jenny...but what is being taught...the Kingdom...or just more traditions. Matthew 24:14
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
pugwahjv, Happy Sabbath my dear friend. We don't teach man-man traditions. We always use the Bible as our only source to answer religious questions. Without biblical reference, all we have are more traditions. The answer to our questions relies on one Truth. Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, [and you will be my witnesses] in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the Earth."
    • Linda Joy
My Church does that, too. We also provide humanitarian aid.
    • Venus1485
The Bible is clearly very poor fiction used in a con game for collecting tithes.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Venus1485, I have said many times that tithes do not exist in the New Testament.
    • Venus1485
They exist in all churches I've seen.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Venus1485, what churches have you seen when you were never a Christian?
    • ReiSan
Jenny does not know anything about Venus1485. She says she used to be a Christian, and you cannot prove she was not. Falsely accusing someone of lying is a sin. Jenny only speaks of what she wants to be true, so she lies constantly.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
ReiSan, I have proved it many times that Venus1485 was never a Christian. She is clueless about the Bible. To be a Christian, a person has to have biblical knowledge.
    • pugwashjw65
Hi Jenny...I have had two young men from the SDA visit my front door...but when I confronted them with scripture...from their own Bible they were carrying, they felt intimidated... . The only reason I could give for this is their LACK OF KNOWLEDGE of all pertinent scriptures...They were the ones to " pull the pin " and depart...and at least we parted on good terms... The lack of scriptural knowledge would preclude them calling themselves ' elders'...
    • ReiSan
As far as I can tell, Venus1485 knows more about the Bible than Jenny does. Jenny is a cultist who looks only at one Bible verse and ignores many more. As you judge others, so shall you be judged. Jenny is an SDA not a Christian.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
pugs, quote: "but when I confronted them with scripture...from their own Bible they were carrying, they felt intimidated..." Obviously, they were barely starting to evangelize from door-to-door. Let me know if there is something you don't agree with.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
ReiSan, "Venus1485 knows more about the Bible than Jenny does" Venus does not know anything about the Bible. If she did, she would provide Scripture saying were tithing exists in the New Testament. Epic fail.
  • First I know I am not the only one with problems. I am on here now after maybe two days I lose count easily. I can't go because my neurological is very unpredictable. Like a lot of times I cannot go to the store for things I need or running out of. So I stay home and read and study the Bible with prayers and faith. I hope this answers a lot of questions about me.
  • Some evil people mentioned they went to church, so that's what put me off going.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Thumbs up. Churches are filled with malicious people. Take it from the non-denominational Christians. They stopped going to church, because their churches do not reason with the scriptures. They are also money hungry. A complete turn off.
    • Linda Joy
Mine is not. But I've seen this in other churches as well. And I agree. I stopped going for a long time for much the same reason. But I'm far from perfect...
    • Jenny_Rizzo
Linda Joy, oh stop it. Sugar-coating your comment isn't going to fool Anonymous. Don't be embarrassed to say you are a Mormon. lol
    • ReiSan
Jenny is hateful and a hypocrite. I certainly would not sit in church witth such toxic "ketsu".
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
ReiSan, and who ever said your deeds were perfect?
    • Linda Joy
I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I'll never be ashamed to admit it! But I'm still a fallible human being and I don't say that to impress anyone but to admit the truth. If you can't accept that that's your problem not mine. By the way you're not perfect either no matter how much you think you are. You do believe Romans 3:10 and 3:23 don't you?
    • ReiSan
Jenny it is you who act as though you are perfect. You are desperate to find fault with me, so you tell silly insulting lies.
    • Jenny_Rizzo
Hello folks, I am on another Q&A website at this time, were people do not complain. I will only be addressing my AB feedback at this time.
    • Jenny_Rizzo
ReiSan, quote: "Jenny it is you who act as though you are perfect." I don't know where you got that idea from. Did you download my remarks or take a picture?
    • ReiSan
Denials are futile. You deny t you do tings and then do them again.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
ReiSan, I can see you are in self-denial with your false accusations.
  • My religious beliefs are based on the SDA church. I am not a fanatical churchgoer. I hardly don't go to church. The true church is our body from within known as: the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Any church building will not save you. 2 Corinthians 4:18 "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are Eternal."
    • Venus1485
Some things not seen are just imaginary, like gods.
    • Jenny_Rizzo
But that doesn't include all things. *Double Facepalm*
    • Linda Joy
And the wind and x-rays and atoms, I mean if you can't see it..,
    • Jenny_Rizzo
Linda Joy, speaking of the phrase: 'As blind as a bat', bats have a better vision than Venus1485. LOL
    • Rick Myres
My religious beliefs are not based on the church I belong to. My beliefs are based on what the Holy Spirit teaches me through teachers of His word and preacher teachers of His word and reading the word with prayers and faith.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Rick, very true. The corruptible must put on incorruption. That is, the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
    • ReiSan
Jenny and Linda are blind as bats. They do not see that there is no objective evidence that any gods exist. not to mention that one is better in any way than the millions of others. The only spirits that actually exist are alcoholic ones. Holy Midori, holy Suntory, holy Kirin!
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
ReiSan, you are repeating the same broken record in the terms of gods. I made it clear various times. The gods in whom Jesus speaks of in John 10:34 is mankind who has dominion on Earth. The evidence in a Deity is found in wind and energy.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
ReiSan, quote: "The only spirits that actually exist are alcoholic ones. Holy Midori, holy Suntory, holy Kirin!" The Holy Spirit is without error. In the Day of Pentecost, many of the Jews thought Jesus's disciples were drunk. Acts 2:13 "But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine." On verse 2, a mighty wind came upon the disciples to define the Holy Spirit.
    • Linda Joy
Maybe the spirits she believes in is the explanation for her beliefs.
    • Venus1485
Spirits aren't real, just like gods aren't real. Jenny speaks for God. If it existed, it'd strike her down.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Venus1485, spirits rely in our conscience, while the Bible describes gods as individuals.
    • ReiSan
Jenny belongs to a silly cult, so she has weird ideas.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
ReiSan, who has dominion over the Earth?
    • ReiSan
Who has dominion over Earth? No one controls the entire planet. Each nation has its won rulers. According to most Japanese, Amaterasu is the supreme goddess. Many of us aare atheists as well.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Quote: "Who has dominion over Earth? No one controls the entire planet." You are blind, mankind can destroy the world.
  • I have a medical ear disturbance that would be distracting to other worshipers.
    • Linda Joy
Others can hear it? Once a sweet old man behind me was wearing a hearing aid that was screeching and he couldn't hear it. It was distracting until I figured out what it was then it didn't bother me.
  • I hurt my right knee and toe in a fall last summer. Till then I went pretty regularly. I was the librarian
  • I never did attend any church in my entire life, so I cannot possibly do so anymore.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
You can always become a non-denominational Christian. There is nothing wrong with becoming one. If I was being mean, I never would have mentioned it.
    • ReiSan
I never even knew one Christian until I moved to the USA. I was married to an American man, and I dated one before I married. They were not Christians. Christianity and Islam are the last religions I would want to join.
    • Jenny_Rizzo
Give Islam a try to see how it works out.
    • Venus1485
Islam is banned in Japan, Poland and other places as it well should be. .
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
      Venus1485, that's great. :)
    • Venus1485
Christianity should also be banned. Communist nations suppress all religions, so it has one great idea.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Venus1485, Christianity will not be banned until the NWO takes effect.
    • ReiSan
NWO is more crude fiction. Christianity is losing r ground heavily in Europe and has quite few followers in Asia. It will die much sooner than you imagine.... but why worry, sinc you are an SDA not a Christian.
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Quote: "NWO is more crude fiction." That's what former US presidents have been planning. Quote: "sinc you are an SDA not a Christian." Prove that I'm not a Christian.
  • Jehovah can be prayed to from any location...the base idea of churches is to confirm to this... (Hebrews 10:25) not forsaking our meeting together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you see the day drawing near. RC cathedrals are simply " over the top"...AND... (Exodus 20:4, 5)
