  • not a good idea in my opinion
  • I think they should there our future.
  • I think everyone should have to pay for education cause everyone benefits. However, I think parents who have 4,5,,6 kids should have to pay more in taxes for that.. even 1 child should have to pay more for that. I don't mind paying for education but parents should have to pay more for each child they have in school.
  • Yes, i wouldnt want to have the next generation to be abunch of dumbasses. Would you?
  • yes, we all benefit from a well-educated society.
  • in my opinion thats like asking... if you are not disabled then should you not have to pay taxes towards it. Yeah it sucks for having to pay for something that you are not taking advantage of but more then likely sooner or later you will be using the service at some point in your life.
  • Yes! Education is the key that opens doors to everyones bondage. Bondage of depression, cancer, medical research, and a future of self esteem for those who have the widsdon to create a better tomorrow!
  • Yes... Kids should be in school ... It's like asking "Should I pay taxes for a soliders training if I'm not in the army?" Paying taxes helps everyone... directly and/or inderectly.
  • Yes, education leads to the betterment of society for everyone.
  • the question has a double negative. only the people who have children should pay for taxes toward education. true or not true.
  • We used to send our kids to private school and paid thousands in tuition. At first it bothered me that we were also paying taxes for public school, but then I realized that the old cliche "It takes a village to raise a child" is true. The children our are future and what a great investment. This year our kids are going to public school and I have realized what a tremendous investment that is. THere are so many educational and other opportunities to help get them started on a great path. Parents have to activly participate as well, it is not just someplace to send your kids for 7 hours a day to get them out of your hair.
  • When we are all old, the people who will keep the world running in order to keep us in our retirement homes will be today's kids. If you expect to retire, you want well educated, productive people keeping the world turning. In fact, you will need well educated young people to run your company when you are middle aged. Educating children is an investment in the country's future as well as in the individual child's.
  • we are living in any country means that we are living in a homeland and we are members of that home land taxes are the funds which are used to fullfill the problems of our home land so they should have to pay taxes toward education
  • No. You're really paying back for your own education. But should single people have to pay taxes that are spent to bring up other people's kids? Why should single people have to pay taxes that are turned into Baby bonuses, family rebates and the like? Those future kids are going to do a shitload more damage to the environment than us single people are going to do, even if we do manage to hoon around in 4WDs and V8s (... mumble mumble pet peeve mumble mumble ...) I suppose, if I'm paying for their upkeep then they will owe me a pension when I retire. It's only fair (though they will be free to protest, as they didn't have a say in the matter.) Yeah, it's got nothing to do with "fair" and every thing to do with "buying votes from idiots" ... (I mean, really, are you supposed to feel grateful that the govt takes your tax money and then gives it back to you? Isn't that wasteful "double handling"?) errr, I think I've drifted off track here. Sorry. Back to your question: "I don't mind paying taxes to educate today's children because my parent's taxes went toward paying for my education." That's better. "If they want parents to pay for their own children's education, then we'd better make sure that those parents are being paid so much money that they can afford private schooling." There you go, investigate that one. But I'd rather government schooling continues to exist.
  • If you don't the kids next door will stay stupid and never move away, i know you do not want that
  • 1. If you have more than (say) 3 children, your tax burden should be higher. 2. The kids should be able to read an auto insurance policy, , balance a checkbook and be able to get a job upon graduation from high school.
  • did someone pay for their free public education? does someone who doesn't drive still pay taxes to have the roads and bridges fixed? should someone who'se never been without work pay unemployment tax? should someone who'se never had a fire pay taxes to maintain emergency responders in their city? should a soldier who'se never met you (and might not even like you) fight to defend you? we are a society, and taking care of each other is what we do pay your taxes and stop whining
  • The whole idea of government is to share public services and their associated costs, rather than having services only for the select few who can afford them. Without a public school system, if we have higher crime and more juvenile delinquents breaking into your home, you might find it's a false saving.
  • I used to resent paying taxes towards things I do not use - but, as one AB'er said, we are really paying back our own education - and the more taxes we CAN pay is a tribute to the success of our own education. But, think of it this way - when we retire, we need those children to be working to suport us in retirement - either by paying taxes to cover our pensions, health care etc, or by being using their education to treat us for all the ailments we will suffer from in old age. Also, if we are able to pick and choose what taxes we pay, based on usage, do we then get the opportunity to not pay taxes for the military if we do not approve of war? not pay taxes for the police service if we are law abiding citizens? Not pay for street lighting if we don't go out at night? It would be an unworkable system. Best to accept that, as another AB'er said, we are all part of a community and therefore need to support it! Having said that, I do object to paying taxes for MPs to go off on trips abroad to investigate silly things, like cycle paths in Bermuda or other such frivolities.
  • Everyone should pay taxes for education. When you're a kid, you go to school for free and when you get older you pay so others can go to school. Just like Social Security. You pay it now to support the elderly and when you get old you get money from younger people who pay Social Security.
  • they better they are the ones with the most money
  • Yes with a qualifer. Should a single or a couple with no children pay the same taxe as someone or a couple with 5 kids or more? I think not. My reasoning is that although I agree all should be schooled I also think there should be a cost for the parents, not to be borne by others. If for an example a couple can not afford the cost of more children then why should that be paid for who made the choice to have fewer or none? I understand one other thing - the chances of this being changed is about zero. Good question; not sure there is a good answer.
  • It's amazing how across the board everyone answering this question is all for you paying for their kids education, but so many are against the idea of universal health care to keep your kids healthy?!?! MAKES NO SENSE TO ME?
  • Yes. They are responsible for the continuation of the Country and our Civilization just as the people who have children.
  • I don't mind paying taxes just so I can have the tax deductions as well.
  • Yes, just like people without cars help pay for the roads, and people who don't have soldiers in the army still help pay for their equipment and training. We all pay taxes for the "common good," not selectively based on those parts we personally employ.
  • Everyone should pay taxes towards education. It's not like you're paying taxes for a service provided to your child, the service is to the community. The education is not going to just benefit the child, it's going to benefit society. Would you feel cheated if you paid taxes that went towards the education of a future doctor?
  • No, they should pay. These children are going to be the future leaders of our society and our country. I think it is our shared responsibility to see that they are educated well.
  • They should have to pay the costs for themselves unless their parents have already paid that expense! If people wish to have multiple births then let them pay the full freight instead of imposing this expenditure unto others! No more tax deductions for large families! Any number in excess of two adults should have to pay additional amounts!
