  • I'm against that. All religions are beautiful, good and worthy. It is the people who practice them sometimes who aren't so hot. I don't believe one religion is "better" than another, nor that there is just "one path" to heaven/salvation/redemption. I think missionaries are great, if they focus on helping people with difficulties..religion is private, personal and should not be used as a recruiting tool for converts. Just my opinion.
  • I don't think they should at all - not to anyone who doesn't invite them too at least. +6
  • True Christians don't have much choice on the issue. The scripture mandates and states, “the whole world” - which would include Muslims I think. Here is some references to “commission” of Christians mandate to “preach” the Gospel. Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, Acts 16:10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. Romans 1:15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Romans 15:20 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation: 1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 1 Corinthians 9:14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. 1 Corinthians 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! 1 Corinthians 9:18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. Galatians 2:2 And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain. Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, in Christ.
  • If you truly believe what the Bible says, yes. You are commanded to go out to all the world and make disciples. However, you must do so at the leading of the Holy Spirit, and sometimes the Spirit might tell you the time isn't right. He didn't let Paul go into Asia. But if the Spirit tells you to go, you go. Remember, this life is temporary. Even if you live a supposedly long life and die in your bed, life is fleeting. Even if you cling to life, you lose it. On the other side is eternity. And if you have been obedient, death is a reward, not a punishment.
  • No. Nobody should proselytize anywhere. If people wanted to follow a certain religion, they would do so on their own. Nobody has the right to shove things down anybody else's throats, particularly, when they don't want it. People's beliefs should be left alone to believe whatever they want
  • Yes, if they are not a christians, they need to hear about Jesus.
  • Yes. Generally, when religions are allowed to proselytise, it means the country recognizes basic human rights and allows freedom for its citizens.
  • Proselytize, no. Evangelize, yes. Proselytism is the use of unfair and coercive methods, --that is to say, those which apply pressure--to convince a person to leave his/her religion and join another. Evangelization, on the other hand, is giving witness to God as revealed through Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit in a simple and direct manner. It includes the renewing of humanity, witness, explicit proclamation, adherence with the heart, entry into the community, acceptance of signs, and apostolic initiative. It means to carry the good news to all areas of human life and through its influence transform from within and renew humanity itself, but without pressure. In addition, evangelization is protected by the freedoms of speech and religion agreed to by all members of the United Nations. With love in Christ.
  • The word, "proselytize" implies that one is looking for affiliation and membership. Coercion, trickery, and deception are always bad and never result in genuine conversion to faith. Bearing witness means that one is sharing ones' faith humbly, yet with deep conviction. When that happens, disciples (learners, followers) are "made" because they are attracted, curious, and ultimately convinced. Sharing faith means that one is open about his or her faith, beliefs, and experience. It happens in an atmosphere of freedom that honors each person's God-given freedom of choice. It respects the dignity of each person under God. I believe in freedom of religion and thought for all people. When societies impose a set of religious practices, it is not personal faith. Personal faith requires a freedom to choose or reject whatever is the message. Missionaries or representatives of the Christian faith have, as their mission, to live the good news of Jesus Christ, serve people, bear witness, build relationships, answer questions when asked, and give a faithful testimony. They do not convert. If a person is converted, it is out of a free-choice encounter between the person and God. Christian missionaries should go wherever they are called with an attitude of humility and respect. In an ideal world, they would be welcome every where, just as America is now welcoming missionaries from many other faiths into our midst.
  • I believe to proselytize is to mentor, and they must have a walk with Jesus to better said walk. Yes, for all peoples of all nationalities and ethnicities, young in mind or body, old in mind or body, need Jesus.
  • Only to receptive and willing people in those countries
  • Only with AR-15s right now, no?! ;-)
  • Jesus told His disciples to take up their cross daily and follow Him and for that reason, I believe that missionaries should go where the Holy Spirit leads them which includes Muslim countries if need be. Taking up ones cross may very well mean danger and perhaps death as is evident by the hundreds of martyrs around the world. But the fear of death isn't evident in most Christians because their agape love for the lost and excitement at seeing someone come to salvation through Christ out weighs the concern for their own well-being. Just my take on it.
  • a whopping NO
  • Sure, they seem to have a good head on their shoulders.
  • Others have already cited the commission to preach to every kindred, tongue, and people. On the other hand, Paul instructs us to obey the law of the land. For the time being, there are still lots of people in "open" countries who have not heard the Good News. Let's focus there. If there is a Christian living in a country where proselyting is not allowed, let them live an example and answer questions.
  • That's just asking for trouble.
  • It's a dirty job, but SOMEBODY'S gotta do it! : )
  • One of the "last frontiers"?! ;-)
  • No, They should offer humanitarian aide, provide comfort, but they should only talk about christ if asked.
  • absolutely, God said to witness to the whole world...it is extremely dangerous...there are many in China alone and have brought many to Christ, just have to be underground. it is dangerous...
  • This scripture says yes. (Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come. ...in all the inhabited earth... god will make sure that everyone gets to hear about his KINGDOM... Even in Rijhad and Jedda. Even if their governments do not like it... (Hebrews 10:31) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of [the] living God.
  • I think that Christian missionaries should go where the Holy Spirit leads them to go including Muslim countries if He so desires.
  • I so don't see why they cannot. I also know that they do.
  • Muslims have already sold there soul to islam so there beyond hope and not worth the time or money. Christianity is the word of jesus and preaches peace and humanity, when have you ever seen a muslim practice this sort of behaviour? They behead you and stone you in there own country's and that proves there just savages.
  • Well, they'll need a lot of them. It's a crime, "punishable by death" to do such. Plus, most times I ever heard someone do this, they always said "May I tell you about my relationship with Jesus?" or something along those lines. They (Like Jesus) gives you the option to "Opt Out" of it. I have also only heard one person refuse..They did say it in a nasty way, but the person just smiled and walked away. I hope that person who refused did turn their heart to him, before it was too late.
