It has become a ritual hard to break. So people put in what they would expect the prospective employers would expect to see.

Most employers already know that an objective is a moving target for almost every employee. They also know by experience that 90 percent of their employees will get burned out in three to five years and then either move on, or motivate and move up. Objectives mean little to an employer who has his/her own agenda in running their company.
