Since your question asks what states "share" a border with Maine and not what states "border" Maine, it could be said that Maine shares a border of some kind with 23 other states. Either by way of the Canadian border or the Atlantic Ocean. I only gave New York and New Hampshire one each even though both of them also share both borders. Oh, and I did not count Alaska because they do not share the same international border. 14 - Atlantic 11 - Canadian

Assuming the intentional meaning of your question, and as previously stated, just one, New Hampshire. And if that isn't isolated enough, we would be more than happy to TNT the Piscataqua River Bridge and dig a canal along our entire border! Ha!
