  • The most common cause of deleted text messages or call logs is low device memory available. Check to see how much memory you have available by going to "Options", then "status". That will tell you how much "File Free" memory you have. If you have less than 10 or 11 kb, blackberrys will delete "unnecessary" things like text messages and call logs so it has enough memory available for its needs. You can periodically do a "hard reset" on your blackberry by doing a battery pull. With the phone still on, pull the battery out and let it sit for 30 seconds. Then reinsert the battery and the phone will power back up. That works to clear out the phone's cache of unneeded data. It will NOT delete everything like your messages or anything - it's kind of a universal cure-all for blackberry problems. I do a battery pull every few days or at least once a week just to clear out the junk. I'd suggest checking out www.crackberry.com and search their forums for details on your specific device and how to get more memory space permanently freed up.
