Please give me one good reason why I should stay in school. I just don't see the point anymore. Have you ever felt this way?

Remind me please...how old are you? And what school...college, HS? *********** Here it is. I assume you are in 12th grade or about to enter 12th grade. That is one year left. Finish HS. Now take advise from me, who is older then you and 'If I knew then what I know now'... If you don't think that college is something that you are cut out for then go to a school that offers a certification in a couple of years. You can graduate and get a job that will turn into something very high paying. If you are going to go to college stay away from a business degree or liberal arts, they get you nothing but a job as a secretary or office assistant. Get a degree in SOMETHING that will get you a job in a specific field...teaching, lawyer, Dr, Nurse...etc. BUT...if you really feel that you can't finish HS (which you are so close to finishing) there is no shame in getting your GED and moving on from there. I'm not going to bullshit you, and you already knew that.

Maybe not now or 2 years from now but someday you will look back and regret that you didn't get the education you had the opportunity to get. Don't discount the importance of that piece of paper called a diploma. There are so many doors that will be shut to you without it. Also, it is much more difficult to go back afterward.

Because if you quit you just join the ranks of losers who couldn't even cut it in school. Trust me, real life sucks alot more than the life you have while still in school. Don't be a pud, stick in there and actually have a chance at a future. You quit, and you end up always wishing you had gone to school. I think everyone felt that way when they were in school. High school especially. Now seriously dude, you are getting advice from someone who has been a stoner likely longer than you have been alive. If even I can easily see how much staying in school makes sense, don't ya think it might be a good thing to do? Hell I am and always have been a raging pothead. I still managed to keep a 3.8 in high school and a 3.9 in college, and finish both. If I could do it, fried off my ass, you can certainly do it sober!

If you don't finish school you will not have a future profession only a job. I'm assuming you're referring to high school, but this applies to college as well.

becuz high school is not your future, your future is a job, a home and your own family. You need an education to to do well. The point is college grads make about 100 k more than high school grads.Minimum wage or living off the Government is your future if you dont graduate and move on to higher ed. Gut it out. Do what will get YOU ahead- screw the rest. be selfish. Make a great life by building the foundation NOW.

You are in school. You have a future. Do you wish to go to another nation where school is only for the elite? Where those who cannot afford to attend must sift through rubbish dumps or prostitute their bodies? Take your mind from your narrow world and broaden it, look at other people's situations. The street kids, the guys on minimum wage, the guys with no wage.

Now is YOUR time! My guess is you don't want to be my age, going back to school, because you never had the time or energy to do it before, because you have been so busy, trying to survive on the low-paid, back-breaking jobs.

I did feel this way once, but just take a minute and list what you want to achieve in life, and how many of those things you'll need money for. Unfortunately almost all of our goals require money, and thus require a decent job. You'll need to at least make it through high school to get one.

Yeah, screw it. Quit school. It's not worth it. It's a hell of a lot easier to just quit. I mean, you can do what you want and sleep in and not have anyone really telling you what to do, right? Well, damn, gotta eat eventually. Momma's gonna get tired of carrying the weight. So, how are you gonna like that minimum wage job? You think school sucks, try working for slave wages and barely getting by. Stay in school. Find something you love. Follow your dreams. If you quit school, you make a hard bed for yourself.

i did feel this way, for years. Nothing changed. The school didnt help me, and i did eventually stop going - for 6 months. Untill i was referred from my counsellor to "link education". I'm not sure how many of these places are around but it changed my life. If staying in school is destroying your self confidence speak to someone! i wouldn't advise just leaving if you think there are better things to be doing with your time.

Education is very important. To survive without killing yourself with numerous jobs, education can help you get that one good job that provides for you. When you have kids, would you want them to drop out of school?

It may not seem that way now but, you'll regret it for the rest of your living days. You won't be able to get a decent paying job either. So, DON'T DO IT!!!

Although I am all for learning, I have had a lot of disagreements over the school system ... I dropped out of high school, but I did not stop learning ... I took a quick first aid course and went to work as an industrial first aid attendant on oil drilling rigs ... I was getting paid to just wait for accidents and injuries, so to fill the time and to continue learning, I took courses by correspondence and eventually earned 5 university science degrees (including a Ph.D.) all while working for 11 years as "the band aid guy" ... So I am sort of against much of the general school system with all of its constraints, but I am all for continuing one's education ... see if you can find a way to both earn and learn. Something that you may want to consider is this ... learn to become the BEST at something, anything ... then people and their money will come to you ... if you abandon learning and stay average or even less, then you will have to hunt and chase and struggle for every dollar you ever earn.

Because if you quit right now, your parents will never let your hear the end of it. Staying in school is the lesser of the two evils and much less grief than the constant nagging you'll get from Mum or Dad (or both), which will last an eternity.

ANY place you want to work wants a HS diploma or GED. The only other option is to work where they hire HS kids. Do you want to have a boss that is a HS seinor?These days it is hard enough to make a living wage with a collage degree. Unless you are planning on living in your folks basement, you need to graduate HS to have any chance of supporting yourself.

You should stay in school to learn more and broaden your horizons. You need alot of subjects in school to become someone later down the road. Say you want to be an accountant or bookeeper. Well then you need math to do these things. Yes I have when I first entered highschool. I just ignored the people and went on about my business.

Hey do a little research... Look at what high school drop outs make vs. people who make it to college and drop out verses those who complete their college degree. A lot of jobs today require HS. degrees, even more what to see some college, better higher paying jobs require a college degree. It may seem like a good idea now but I assure you 10 years from now you will think otherwise!

I haven't read all the answers so this might be redundant. If you want to make any kind of money that will at least sustain you, you have to have a H.S. degree. Even if you aren't going into management or business, special interest groups like Americorp, Peacecorp, and so on require a H.S. education. There are other ways if you don't want the H.S. experience. My Stepdaughter hated high school. She wanted the degree and not a G.E.D. So she found a program at the local community college that provided courses to finish H.S. with a H.S. degree and she will be walking across that stage this June. Very Proud...she recognized the problem, found a solution, and followed through. We had to pay for it, but its worth it. One more thing, don't become a part of the 'dumbing down of America'. An educated person in our society is a powerful person. A compationate educated person is ruler.

I work at a school that has what we call an "ability to benefit" program and its basically for high school drop outs to have a chance at learning a trade. I speak with these students on a daily basis and most of them will tell you how much they regret not having finished high school. Their lives are so much harder now because of it, each one of them has on average 3 kids and have to try to support them with minimum wage jobs while trying to learn something to help them succeed. Its extremely tough. You're young and the truth of the matter is that if you don't finish high school now, it'll only be harder to do it in the future. Do it and get it out of the way! You'll be glad you did. Good luck, I truly hope you make the right decision!

Please stay in school. High school can be tough. You will get through it. What else are you going to do? Talk to an important adult in your life or your guidance counselor. I know somebody cares about you...hey you even cared enough to ask this question.

I was a high school dropout. I went into the Navy active duty. When I was discharged, I came home and floundered around for a few years couldn't get a good job. I was lucky and got into university on individual approval. It took me 10 years to graduate. I had a Batchlor of science degree which opened a number of doors for me. Later I went to a trade school and received a vocational certification. Stay in school as in the long run you will be much better off and go to a university or vocational school and get a worthwhile and useful education. Don't be stupid like I was!

I know school can be hard, but in order to secure a good job in the future which will give you freedoms, you are going to need a good education. A good education will lead to a better choice in careers, hence better wages. Would you rather spend your adult life working long hours at a job that doesn't progress, and you hate. Or would you rather spend your time working at a job, that has prospects, pays a good pension, and a good wage, so that you can work less hours, spend your free time on hobbies you can afford, and going on holiday to places you've never been? Believe me, finance is always a worry for people who work in low end paid jobs.
