The majority of courts in Ohio allow the donor to recover the ring if the marriage does not ensue. There has been one court that has held that he ring does not have to be returned if the donor is at fault for the marriage not ensuing. However, it is a safe conclusion to say that in Ohio, the donor can recover the ring.

An engagement ring is a promise of marriage, if the marriage doesn't happen it should be given back to the giver!
