If it is yellow gold made before about 1920, it is only about 10 carat as opposed to 14 or 18 used today, so it is less valuable than a modern setting. The condition and intricacy of design would also affect the price. Art Deco is currently a very popular style, so rings from that period are selling quite well. It is difficult for an individual to get full resale price for a ring when trying to resell in most cases. It would probably bring more money at an estate auction or when sold as estate jewelry through a dealer or jeweler. You might consider resetting the stone rather than selling if it is a matter of design you don't like.
