  • Marijuana by far.
  • Anytime you can go to jail for having something in your possession, it is worse than the legal thing. Dope is worse than cigarettes. Not to mention that both are bad for your lungs but I've never seen cigarettes make people dumb.
  • Cigarettes.
  • In society as a whole, cigarettes are much worse. They kill many more people - both the people who use them as well as the innocent people they victimize.
  • I think cigarettes are much worse than Marijuana. The effects of Marijuana are right in the open. Cigarettes bad effects were hidden and are much worse.
  • If they were both legal I would say cigarettes. Unfortunately they are not both legal, so people who use marijuana are exposed on a regular basis to criminals who are interested solely in making money, regardless of the pain they may cause. Of course the same thing can be said about tobacco companies, but they don't have a vested interest in pushing their customers onto still more addictive things so they can make even more money.
  • Marijuana is far less healthy, it contains more Tar and other carcinogens. Cigarettes are often filtered and processed to remove (some) nasties. The only reason Cigarettes cause more damage to society and people, is because they are legal, and easier to smoke in larger quantities. Cigarettes dont cause psychosis, while Marijuana has been shown to greatly increase the chances of one becoming psychotic. Cigarettes also still leave the smoker completely functional in the real world, Being High on Marijuana is like being drunk: you become completely useless, and a burden on society. If Marijuana was allowed to be smoked as much as Cigarettes - ie "Cheap", legal and plentiful, then they would be far more damaging than Cigarettes.
  • I think that's got to be the biggest load of shit i've ever heard "DeadEvan". For marijuana to have any psychotic or pcychoactive effects..you would have to smoke massive quantities of pot every single day for a long period of time and to be honest I think it has alot to do with someone's personality, how they handle things, and how they're taught & raised. Marijuana is far different from being drunk my friend. Another thing Marijuana is useful for alot of different health problems. Such as, · AIDS - Marijuana can reduce the nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting from the condition itself and the medications as well. · Glaucoma - Marijuana relieves the internal eye pressure of glaucoma, and therefore relieving the pain and slowing or even stopping the condition. · Cancer- Many side effects of the medication to stop cancer can be relieve with Marijuana, some studies suggest that Marijuana tends to slow down the progress of some types of cancer. · Multiple Sclerosis - Muscle pain, spasticity, tremors and unsteadiness are some of the effects caused by the disease that can be relieved by Marijuana. · Epilepsy - in some patients, epileptic seizures can be prevented with Marijuana use. · Chronic pain - Marijuana helps to alleviate the pain caused from many types of injuries and disorders. Those who hold that marijuana is equivalent to tobacco are misinformed. For example, most marijuana smokers smoke the bud, not the leaf, of the plant. The bud contains only 33% as much tar as tobacco. In fact, marijuana is an expectorant. Marijuana Less Harmful to Lungs than Cigarettes by Louise Gagnon Medical Post, Sept. 6 1994 L'ESTEREL, Quebec -- Heavy marijuana smokers show less evidence of lung injury than heavy tobacco smokers, and it may be cannabinoids that are protecting them from developing a condition like emphysema. That's according to the principal investigator of a study done at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). To determine the acute effects of marijuana and tobacco smoking, Dr. Tashkin restudied these smokers a week or two later, giving them a single joint of marijuana or a single tobacco cigarette or both, and then measuring DTPA clearance 15 minutes subsequently. "What we found was the clearance of DTPA was abnormally rapid from the lung in the tobacco smokers," he said. "It was about twice the rate of non-smokers. In the marijuana smokers, there was a tendency toward a much less rapid rate of clearance. There was no acute effect in either tobacco or marijuana, and there was no added effect of marijuana or tobacco." *Not one case of lung cancer has ever been successfully linked to marijuana use. *Cannabis, unlike tobacco, does not cause any narrowing of the small air passageways in the lungs.
  • Cigarettes are far, far worse. I have yet to meet a person that smokes a pack of joints a day... How many people have died from smoking cannabis?
  • Cigarettes.
  • Marijuana smoke contains some of the same cancer-causing compounds as tobacco, sometimes in higher concentrations. In fact, marijuana smoke contains 50 to 70 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke. Studies show that someone who smokes one joint may be taking in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes four cigarettes. Regardless of THC content, the amount of tar and carbon monoxide delivered to the lungs is approximately three to five times greater for marijuana smoke than tobacco smoke. This is largely due to differences in the method of smoking tobacco and marijuana, such as larger puff volumes and longer durations of inhalation with marijuana.
  • Cigarettes of course.
  • Depends on the amount.
  • cigs... you've never heard of someone dying from smoking weed, they only die from LONG LONG term affects of smoking weed, cigs are gross anyway, empty out the tabaccerrr and load that shit with some ganja!
  • I know cigarettes are worse.
  • Cannabis IS medicine and always has been, tobacco even has some potential as medicine (alzheimers reasearch indicates some promise) But clearly we can't compare them as the data will not support gross risks associated with cannabis, while on the other hand cigarrettes kill over 400,000 Americans annualy.
  • Cigarettes,by a long shot.It is proven ,beyond a doubt,to cause cancer and a myriad of other diseases. Marijuana is an innocent herb that has been used to expand consciousness for thousands of years. It is used spiritually and for recreation.
  • Cigarettes. Pot has medicinal purposes :)
  • Currently the Israeli Army medical corps uses a cannabis based emergency room drug for neuroprotection in brain trauma cases. The drug is effective at stopping much of the brain damage that will occur in head trauma cases.
  • Being high on marijuana does not make everyone a burden on society, those who are were going to be a burden with or without it. Carl Sagan was a regular user of marijuana and was not a burden, he enriches us with his intellectual insight. No, the stereotypical dumbassedness perpetuated by the Tommy Chongs of this world are simply a misunderstanding of the multifaceted aspects of cannabis.
  • cigarettes
  • I smoke both and I definitly think cigarettes are worse. I can go a day without smoking weed but cigs forget about it. Its harder to stop smoking cigarettes and science has shown that it is way more harmful to your body. LEGALIZE IT
  • For who? Cigarettes are more harmful to your health, but nobody ever got stoned off cigarettes and killed a third party. However, that is not uncommon for a pot smoker.
  • cigarettes, are by far more harmful. Everyone who says marijuana has the same amount of cancer-causing toxins in it get that answer from the media or government. Independent studies have shown, that were not sponsered by the government, that marijuana dosn't have any cancer causing chemicals in it, and it is likely that marijuana helps fight cancer. Go to norml.com for more info.
  • i like both. but pot doesnt kill people. Cigarettes have rat poison and chemicals in it. with pot you grow a plant that God put on the planet you pick the bugs off of it and then dry them by hanging them with a fan or something blowing lightly on em. then u put it in a glass jar to make it taste better. www.gardenscure.com/420
  • Cigarettes make me feel worse, weed makes me happy
  • Cigarettes!
  • Cigaretts of course.
  • for your health cigarettes...but I don't know if natural tobacco is worse than natural marijuana...There is a substantial list of additives added to cigarettes that I wouldn't want added to an off planet garbage dump.
  • Cigarettes yo... (They don't call them 'nails' for nothing.)
  • Both are pollutants for your body, but one is also illegal so I guess I'd have to say marijuana, even though I feel that anytime you are allowing smoke into your body of just about anything, it's not what the body was meant to digest or use.
  • Well, gram for gram, pot is worse for you as it has more tar. Not that I know anything about it, but I understand that this tar, called "resin" by those who smoke the marijuanas, is a pretty good demonstration of how pot smoke is bad for you. But most people don't smoke cigarettes and pot gram for gram. A person who smokes say, one gram of the evil weed has used (by weight) about the amount of tobacco in a regular cigarette. And it is not uncommon for cigarette smokers to smoke up to three packs a day. Plus, the addiction is terrible. People who I've worked with getting clean tell me that quitting smoking cigarettes is harder than quitting heroin, widely considered the most addictive hard drug. My opinion: cigarettes are worse.
  • Cigarettes of course. I wouldn't mind to see them outlawed and marijuana legalized.
  • There are many studies "proving" that marijuana is harmful, and just as many "proving" that marijuana is helpful. all these studies state "marijuana may do this" and "marijuana can do that," and none saying "marijuana DOES." until someone can get some solid, full proof information, whos to say wether marijuana is more harmful than cigarettes?
  • The only (actual) studies done on cannabis to determine the validity of the theory that it destroys brain cells showed that it did not. To the contrary, THC and the combined constituent components (Cannabinoids) actually serve to preserve brain cells during trauma. This is a neuro-protective quality that has not gone unnoticed by the Israelis who use it in their ERs to treat head wounds with brain damage. It retards the digression into brain death and allows surgeons to make repairs (as best they can.) Cannabis also shows promise for preserving the brain from cell damage due to stroke. There is a report on cancer as well which shows that it protects from that too, quite the contrary from what has always been assumed since the days of making declarations without science to back it up. There are things that are true about cannabis, and there is the official hype. Let's not be confused by that.
  • both are really bad but cigs are worse
  • For gettin' high.....? Cigs For gettin' cancer...? Cigs For gettin' busted...? Weed There ya go...! ;-)
  • Cigs may possibly help prevent Alzheimer's disease, but the cancer will kill you first. Weed will just get you busted and thrown in jail for a while. So ultimately, cigs are worse, I guess. At least weed might not kill you. It can wreck the life you keep, but it might not kill you.
  • they are both bad 4 U
  • well technically weed has more cancer causing...somethings in it but (usually) people smoke more cigarettes than weed & cigarettes r definitely more addicting so i say cigs r worse
  • http://www.well.com/user/woa/fspot.htm This website says "studies suggest that it is likely that marijuana may cause cancer if used for a number of years." Both are bad for you, but it depends on the use of each. I personally think cigarettes are worse.
  • ciggarettes are far worse. as for marijuana being illegal that doesnt make it worse on your lungs. Marijuana doesnt have rocket fuel, rat poison, fiberglass and all that other "great" stuff. have you ever heard of a doctor saying "He's not gonna make it, the cancer has him, he shouldnt have smoked so much marijuana" no you dont because marijuana is nowhere near as bad as ciggarettes. and i have never met a pot dealer that was a thug that carried a gun and ruined peoples lives. people i know that sell do it so they can make some money and smoke for free and the hook there friends up. whats so wrong with that?
  • lets say u smoke 10 smokes and a friend smokes 10 dubbes u have more chance of dieing the does so smoking is worse
  • personally I think both are terrible for your health..but of the two I'd say cigarettes are by far the worse.
  • I think this question is better phrased: Which do you feel is better, cigarettes or marijuana? Well in that case, I think it depends on the circumstance. Generally, I prefer marijuana.
  • cigarettes
  • I would deffintly have to say cigarettes. They fuck up your lungs and your heart. it also seems like ppl that smoke them heavily look all wrinkly and grimey. They say that one marijuana joint is equal to smoking 4 cigaretes. first i dont fully believe that, and second nobody packages up packs full of joints and smoke them. you might smoke a few but your probably gunna be smoking with ppl and so your smoking less. a cigarete you get like 20-30 drags id say and you only need a couple hits to get high. i smoke both which sux. i needa quit one, and my choice is cigaretes because alls they do is make you feel relaxed for a few minutes then a hour later you want one so bad you feel worse then you did be4. sumtimes ill smoke a butt and feel gross like what am i doing but weed is the way to go
  • ciggaretts are way worse they have 4000+ chemicals in them weed is just paper and thc which is alot healthier.
  • haha, The peoeple that say its bad, are the ones who have never tried it. You can drive just fine, unless your really stoned. it unlocks parts of the brain that have never beeen used before, thats why you have such intellectual and deep thoughts when your high, if everyone used marijuana, we would be more laid back and less violent, also everyone would be smarter because regular marijauna users use 3 more percent of the brain.(fact) If we legalized marijauna, the taxes made of the sale of the drug would be huge, and it would literally end the recession. LEGALALIZE!
  • after I role my joint with both weed and tobacco I don't care:)
  • Cigarettes are MUCH worse then marijuana. Look at the number of deaths annually attributed to cigarettes compared to pot. cigarettes: 400,000 marijuana: 0
  • I think cannabis... Research (mind you, there is always some kind of research which contradicts everything else and you never know what to believe) says that even pure cannabis smoke is much worse than tobacco smoke for the lungs. Adding to that the psychological effects (which I believe are real, I have experienced them).
  • depends on the user but smoking by FAR, the habbit is BY FAR WORSE
  • let me just roll a fatty and think about it...
  • It depends how you're consuming it. Inhaling smoke is not a good thing for you, no matter which kind of smoke it is, and I believe that marijuana smoke actually is slightly more harmful than tobacco smoke. However, tobacco is MUCH, MUCH more addictive than marijuana. - If you don't smoke the marijuana, it's much less harmful. Eating foodstuffs containing marijuana negates the harmful effects of the smoke. If you're eating it, it's much less harmful than tobacco.
  • tobacco is , canabis on it`s own in resin form has cancer curing property`s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjhT9282-Tw
  • what do you mean by "worse"? I think tobacco is worse for your health, but pot is worse for your mind (loss of memory, difficulty thinking and problem solving, poor performance, loss of coordination, reduced athletic ability, etc)
  • Tobacco, no doubt.
  • At least cigs (usually) have filters on them. Not even a bong traps all the nastiness that goes into the lungs. Weed tends to make you eat really unhealthy foods, which is a health issue, too. Cigarettes don't make you high, so you're less likely to kill somebody in a car crash when smoking cigarettes. However, most people do't smoke weed as often as someone with a cigarette habit. I guess weed tips the scales. Your GF wins this one. +5
  • Oh please, dont get me into a smoking fight! I LOVE my cigarettes! But I like my pot as well!
  • Tobacco will kill you faster, but weed might lead to other drugs that will kill you even faster.
  • There are fewer tests on the effects of cannabis, so the results should be seen as provisional. However, it certainly looks as if cannabis is MUCH safer than tobacco. Cannabis, for instance, does not seem to have carcinogenic properties, even when it is smoked. It does, however, seem to have some subtle long-term effects on cognition, some or most of which are reversible when you quit. Obviously if you mix tobacco with your cannabis, as most people do, you run the same risks as with tobacco.
  • Your girlfriend is right. Even if she is not right, it pays to accept that she is right. Not only with tobacco and cannabis but everything else in life.
  • I agree with you Ste. It's gotta be tobacco. They put so much poison into it. All those artificial additives and addictive chemicals. At least with cannabis it's natural...you're not getting poisoned by chemicals and nicotine!
  • I don't differentiate between weed and tobacco. Inhaling either one makes no sense to me at all. Both guilty on all counts! Happy Wednesday! :)
  • tobacco.
  • Tobacco is by far worse, and it's also much much harder to stop with it.
  • definitely the tobacco. especially if you eat the pot instead of smoking it. . altho there are studies indicating that pot inhibits brain development, tho it isn't clear how potent the difference is and what dose is required... also the same study also claims that pot helps preserve the brain once it is fully developed.... . but i digress... your GF loses big-time
  • Cannabis ftmfw, that is all.
  • It really depends on your perspective. For instance, I see tobacco and cigarettes as being things that shorten your life span, but they take years off the tail end of your life. You know, the last ten, between 80 and 90, where most people are basically walking corpses anyway. So, I am not bothered by that at all. If you smoke cannabis, especially if you smoke it a lot as a teen, you will turn into a dumb shit. Some of the kids in my high school smoked so much that they seemed high even when they weren't. I mean, it's really bad when your sober reaction time is more than five seconds.
  • Weed,,it's still illegal around here.
  • This isn't even close. Chemically, cured tobacco is far more harmful, especially in cigarettes. Don't argue with the GF. It's not worth it.
  • Tobacco...pot never gave anyone cancer...the munchies sure, but not cancer.
