  • Ok, so what would the dog do? Count really well, play piano? I mean, what kind of behaviors would it exhibit?
  • first of all not all autism is characteristic of Savant, the counting, extreme artists, etc. not sure about dogs with autism, but my little yorkie, 6 yr old, has over the last 3 months, does not want to be petted. she still will not let me out of her sight, she goes to work with me every day, appetite good, no change in stools, she used to not want to get off my lap, now i would have to pen her down to pet her, any clues?
  • I am studying this in one of my psychology classes. I believe my dog may have autism. There have been new studies that suggest a lack of mirroring neurons may cause autism and they test with monkeys and rats who have similiar brains that lack these mirroring neurons, so if monkeys and rats can have autism than it would make sense that dogs would as well.
  • To Mr "Shoot him in the head"...why don't you shoot your self in the head. A dog is a living being. A little being who is cherished by his owner. And loving a creature means appreciating their little contribution of existance no matter the hiccups. Ob noxious, ignorant & plain ugly! Perhaps you are jealous that a dog could be cared for whatever his condition? Petty human!
  • well im not going to and as i said before shoot the mother fucker in the head! and dogs are beast but just put the dog out of its misery jackass
  • I have a five month old pup that we think is german shepherd and labrador mix with possible border collie. She likes to "color organize" her toys. The purple ones in one pile with the green and the other colors like red or white in a different pile across the lawn. We practiced moving her toys around and they still found their way back into their piles. If anyone has any light on if my dog could be autistic... please email me at, zuzuweb@ymail.com Thank you, Zuzu
  • Older post, but a great question! Dogs can develop mental problems, from their genetics, the treatment and conditions they are subjected to and after receiving VACCINATIONS TOO. http://www.paw-rescue.org/PAW/PETTIPS/DogTip_vaccination.php http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/TruthAboutVaccines/?yguid=354615195 http://www.dogs4dogs.com/blog/category/titertesting/ Some BREEDS and some DOGS are more sensitive to the toxins in Vaccines and other toxic products such as Flea and Tick preventatives that are commonly used and touted about as being safe, when they are NOT. Poison is poison..and if you poison a creature, human or animal ENOUGH...you WILL GET, at some point in time, a NEGATIVE REACTION! The reaction is usually physical, but it MAYBE MENTAL TOO. BEHAVIORAL REACTIONS ARE COMMON.
