i think they dont like loud noises

I think all animals are afraid of storms, but we have evolved to use language and pass along that storms are not all that bad if you hide in a cave.

My guess is they don't understand the loud noises. Loud noises can be very frightening and especially when one doesn't understand what is happening. ie probably not understanding what is going on. ie fear of the unknown.
