  • The story I heard is that Flight Sim X was 'optimized' for DirectX 10.
  • Yes, in fact FSX was fundamentally designed for use with Windows Vista and Direct X 10. You need, however, Vista, because XP has no support for the new DirectX, a video card that supports DX10 shaders, and FSX's expansion pack, which gives more in depth benefits to DX10. It's basically going to improve drastically the way the water looks, the way the sunlight refracts, and any more worldly colours. Though details will definitely improve, it will be the overall 'feel' that you notice to be different. Unfortunately for me, who has dual monitors, When I tried Vista, mainly for the FSX DX10 reason, I encountered many incompatibilities with FSX working on a dual monitor system as well as DX10 working out the kinks of dual monitor as well. I switched back to XP. Better, for me, the reliability and smoothness of the gameplay than choppy, slow, yet stunning play.
