I think that sort of thing could become grounds for jury misconduct or mistrial upon appeal. They should have examined the juror a bit more closely to avoid that potential.

I think the trial was just for show because of the current political climate about the police. Chauvin should have another trial, in about a year, after calmer heads prevail. There are certainly grounds for a retrial.
