  • 90% of lung cancer deaths are attributed to smoking. It's all about risk and the percentages. Smoking is also the main culprit of developing emphysema, you are six times more likely to develop emphysema if you are a smoker. Smoking is also a major cause of cardiovascular disease and stroke because smoking does the following - •Raise triglycerides (a type of fat in your blood) •Lower “good” cholesterol (HDL) •Make blood sticky and more likely to clot, which can block blood flow to the heart and brain •Damage cells that line the blood vessels •Increase the build up of plaque (fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances) in blood vessels •Cause thickening and narrowing of blood vessels
  • I'm gonna follow George Burns. Smoked cigars until his death at 100.

      But did he inhale? hahaha
  • Did she and everything in her house smell like cigarettes? I don't know why anyone would want to smell like that, but I guess other smokers don't mind. I remember my mom sucking on those cigarettes saying "Ain't nobody ever proved to me that smoking causes cancer." She died of it before the age of 60

I also remember a young lady saying to me kissing a smoker is like licking an ashtray.
    • Archie Bunker
How did she know what as ashtray tasted like? Maybe it tastes like chicken since everything tastes like chicken....
    • Linda Joy
You mean an ashtray? You've never had a kid that managed to eat out of the ashtray with that black ash sliming down their drool? It really doesn't matter. Anyone who doesn't like kissing a smoker won't. And anyone who smokes won't care what they think. Just letting the boys here know that some women care, so choose accordingly.

      Was just askin'....
  • A lot depends on genealogical factors. A person can live long, but the state of health might be poor. Also, our other habits can impact on lifespan: eating habits, physical exercises, positive and negative emotions, environment. I did read some articles about tuberculosis statistics among cigarette smokers of different ages - and I did not see any strong evidence that it depends on age. You can look for such publications and analyze them, for example, this one: https://ivypanda.com/essays/tuberculosis-statistics-among-cigarette-smokers/
  • It's the same as anything else.It is the genes. You can get covid too and die at 25.
