  • I support them. I wish teachers knew how they are shortchanging themselves by being union. Their salaries do not, in any way, reflect the work it took for them to become teachers. Nor does it reflect the unbelievable responsibility and work it takes to BE a teacher. The one thing which all that education did not teach them, is how to negotiate a fair salary. The unions have them bamboozled into believing they are doing them a service. Most are part time and do not even have health insurance. It is disgusting and then not to have the resources to teach the class is really awful.
  • I agree they need more resources, but apparently the tax payers down there don't want to pay. So, you get what you pay for, right? Either way, I personally believe teachers are underpaid, but walking out on the students isn't the right thing to do. Besides, the teachers union is full of sh*t.
  • As a teacher myself, you have my complete support. When do we march ?!
  • Sure, why not ? It's a good cause, and I've got my shoes laced up. Let's go !
    • Lilo Avli
When did you learn how to tie your shoe laces ?
    • Ice man
I didn't. Mom tied them for me last year and I squeeze into them with a shoe horn.
    • Lilo Avli
      That explains your limp, then.
    • Ice man
Maybe, but there are pills for that ...
    • Lilo Avli
The sight of my shoe horn, you wouldn't need any help in that direction.
    • Ice man
I don't need help with directions .. people are always telling me where to go.
    • Lilo Avli
      Go and finish your laundry.
    • Ice man
      See what I mean ?
  • Count me out. I'm fed up with all the whining nowadays!
  • I totally agree and the Oklahoma teachers have been trying to negotiate for more resources and pay for many years. Oklahoma has been saying "yeah, maybe next year" year after year after year.and clearly have not taken the situation seriously. We love to give law enforcement and fire fighters all the money they want but don't like to spend hardly any money educating our kids. The Oklahoma teachers (some of the lowliest paid in the country) were forced to do something drastic or accept that their situation was not going to change. I applaud them.
  • Forget it, if they can't do it by themselves - why bother!
