You witness a child being hit and publicly humiliated. How do you process this experience?
My hearts aches and want in some way to shed light on the consequences/ the wounding to minimize these occurrences. In other words I haven't a clue.

With very hard to suppress feelings.

Depends on the circumstances. If it's the parents, then it's none of my damn business. If it's just some kid being bullied, then I'll step in.

If it's a quick smack to the butt to get the kid to straighten up then nothing. If it seems excessive then distracting the adult even with something like asking for directions can give them a minute to calm down and regroup. Afterward they might go back to scolding the kid but chances are very good it will be considerably more moderate.
