They are a great choice if you don't expect to do a lot of heavy-duty blending. They are handy for reducing tough, leafy vegetables to a smooth consistency. Pureeing soups, blending sauces, whipping mashed potatoes or eggs, frothing and making smoothies. I know someone who told me she crushed ice with her's, but I think that's getting too abusive on the tool. When I want to make Margaritas I smash ice cubes in my big blender.
