  • My favorite is "Sun and Water" by a guy named Danny Heines. It's on the Windham Hill Guitar Sampler CD
  • There are many great acoustic guitar songs. Fred Benedetti and Peter Pupping released a CD of acoustic guitar covers. The whole CD is great, but I particularly like In My Life and Scarborough Fair. Also, the Duo-Tones (Paul Johnson and Gil Orr) have a CD called "Surf Music Unplugged" that has some fun surf songs played on acoustic. You can check these out at pjmoto.com. I also like "Vaquero" by New West and "Blackberry Blossom" by Dan Crary. Doc Watson and Tony Rice did some nice acoustic guitar songs. "Over the Hill and Far Away" by Led Zepplin has some nice acoustic work, as does "Blackbird" by the Beatles and "Crazy On You" by Heart. Happy listening!
  • Two great answers so far -- and this won't count, I know, for your question -- but I love the acoustic guitar accompaniment in the group Kansas' excellent song, " Dust in the Wind. " [ I'm sure I wouldn't count it as 'the best song ever played on acoustic guitar,' though. But I do love the song! :) ]
  • Shoot me if you feel like it but my favorite is Stairway to Heaven.
  • since stairway has already been said i will say classical gas by Eric Clapton
    • Beat Covid, Avoid Republicans
      Mason Williams did Classical Gas.
  • 'Name' by (I believe) the Goo Goo Dolls.
  • Michael Hedges was a master of the acoustic guitar. Most people have not heard of him, but the people who write your favorite guitar pieces, they all know who he was. Jitterboogie was a tribute to the Tom Robbins novel, Jitterbug Perfume.
  • Signe by Eric Clapton, I love the combination of picking and the staccato chord in between
  • eric clapton - Tears in Heaven.
