They always have in their mind the best thing they will do at any moment and if a better "offer" comes, they will replace the old thing with it. At later age girls pay more attention to other things when deciding, but at teen age all they care about is "what is the funnest thing I can do?" or "will this feels good if I do it?". Just want to mention - people in teen age who are shy and/or don't know how to have fun depend on others, so people that study do it for the unconscious purpose of getting attention ("Hey dude, how to solve this task?", "Hey, what's the answer of that?") and feel needed - for them that makes them feel good (now the attention they get is just other people using them but that's another thing) :)

Because they simply dont know what they want so they go for the best option util they discover something better thus changing again.
