Very little in my observation. Some do, though,...those who are accustomed to having to work for it. That kid who delivers your order at MacDonald's or KFC is not going to be working there for the rest of his/her life. They are probably socking away money for college. And they are learning lessons as to how not to lose their temper when they are bitched at by assholes who think they are just hired slaves. Many will probably be the bosses of such people one day. They are learning practical psychology. Better than they could learn in psych 103.
-
not if they are not working.
-
That's not a yes or no question, Keith. Some do and some don't. It depends on how they have been reared.
-
Some do (especially if they work), some don't.
-
Seems most have the concept that their parents are ATM machines.
-
I think they know the concept of it. Whether or not they know the value of it is more or less a individual thing.
-
Some do and some dont
-
Many do and many don't..they are either saver's or spender's :D
-
Yes they do...unfortunately it's completely wrong.
-
Sure, they do. They learn about finances from Mom and Dad, so it's wise for parents to model good habits and monitor their spending behavior. The difference between financially savvy teens and spendthrift ones is that the latter group of children had parents who didn't know how to say "no" to their wants. These kids never learn to monitor their spending, because they believe that what they want is always available to them. But kids who are told "no" learn that you can't always get what you want, and they learn how to save money.
-
Depends on the person and that goes for all ages.
-
Well, they gotta know what it is in order to keep askin' for it, huh keithold?! ;-)
-
I know the concept :P. Its something we put value in which is the whole concept to get things that we want of need if not we wont have an economy and that wont be good.
-
Only in that they can get it from their parents. That's not a good way to think of that.
-
Many do not appear to have the concept of the dollar at all ... They just yell and scream to their parent(s) and like an ATM ; here come MONEY .... The youth of this universe is it's future ; BUT at the rate we are going ; I feel sorry for the future ... on so many levels .. +5

I'm a teenager and I do. I don't have that much money nor do my parents so I'm fine with the fact that I can't get handed a 20 every 5 minutes. My Dad gave me €5 today to help me buy an album and I was really happy about that. I will concede though that most of my peers haven't a clue. They lose money and couldn't care less. They know their parents will give them more anyway.
-
They do know the concept of "money", what they are in their way to learn at that age (if the parents care to guide them!), is the concept of "finances".
-
Teenagers have an EXCELLENT concept of money. How to SPEND it.
-
They know how to ask for it.
-
The more they are given, the more they expect. +5

im 16 and money is important, and a big issue. i try to save, i live with my boyfriend.
-
It depends. The ones who have money handed to them seem to think that it grows on trees, while the ones who have to work for it and earn it themselves seem to understand it's value.
-
Some do, especially those who have jobs and have to pay for some of what they want or need.
-
Mine learned the hard way....and now as adults they are two thrifty souls.
