I have always had dogs as pets. The thing I particularly enjoy about them is that they don't have human traits, apart from loyalty, which they exhibit to a greater degree than you normally find in humans. I respect them as dogs and try to react to them as such, but they don't have family in the way that we do and so I consider them to be part of my family and accept that I'm not considered family by them.

I have stolen my son's dog, and she is definitely a member of the family! She gives everyone love, no matter how she feels. My wife says she is the only one who is ALWAYS thrilled and happy when she gets home from work. I know how she feels. This is Ebby:

A pet! Cant hold a conversation lol, so a Pet, you wouldnt see me going woof woof in doggie language lol
-
depends who you ask. i'd say... both, maybe. it IS a pet because the human is in control, keeps it on a leash etc... family member because theyre loved so much. people who love their dogs would say they're family... but when you think of it, you wouldnt call your dog a brother or sister. they don't eat with the family. so its doesnt make sense lol :-P
-
mine would be a family member in good standing
-
I like him a lot, but I don't think of him as a person or a family member. He's a great dog though.
