Hanging laundry to dry = free Using a dryer = not free Cost effective, better for the fabric, and doesn't hurt the environment. Its better not to rely completely on a dryer.
-
smells so good when dried in the sun and the sun tends to whiten and lighten your whites:)
-
to save money and the environment. We rarely use our dryer
-
Save money on electrtic. Save time I do 1 shirt and drawers a day. The sun dried has a different feeling.
-
It's cheaper. It CAN smell fresher. It can also be much faster drying, as well, depending on temperature, humidity, and sun.
-
$$$$$$$$$$$$ and they smell good too!
-
To save money, or perhaps tradition?
-
Dryers are pretty wasteful. They waste energy (gas/electricity is costly both in terms of money and geological footprint, whereas air/sunshine is free in all senses of the term) and they waste quality (the heat and tumbling really does a number on the dye, fabric, and construction of clothing -- I've saved a lot of money taking closer care of my clothing). Only heavy-duty, unwieldy items are run through the dryer in my household (we don't have a yard or line or any room to hang things like towels, sheets, etc.).
-
to save money on their electricity bill
-
Because the sun is free and it does the same thing without fading colors.
-
Line drying is good against mold as well.
-
It doesn't shrink, fade or wear out my clothes as fast. I hang almost all my clothes to dry except my socks, underwear and jeans.
-
maybe they just like being outside to do it
-
It saves money, and wear and tear on clothing. And it smells good. Also larger items like sheets and blankets tend to ball up and get twisted and don't dry very well in the dryer.
-
If the day is nice and sunny, then it isn't a bad idea to save some money on your utility bill.
