  • I'm just guessing, but having observed cat behavior all of my life, I imagine that they do it for both protection (to prevent them from being stepped on) and to keep them warm. Also, tucking them in like that makes the cat appear to be smaller, and harder to see readily, because when a cat is sleeping, s/he doesn't wish to be noticed by predators that s/he would encounter in the wild. +5
  • Cause their pads are cozy that way.
  • ooh, good answer. part of it was mine but you said it better.
  • So they have something to rest their chest on, I think.
  • A lot of animals do that, not just cats. Haven't you done that ever?? Not the EXACT way they do it, but in a way. It's just comfortable for them...like it can be for anyone. As a trainer/behaviorist, I do think there are more reasons than just one. This could be one for some animals, but might not be for all animals that do it.
  • I don't know, but I like to see them sitting like that. :)
