What is it that makes a "man in uniform" so attractive to some women? Or a "woman in uniform" so attractive to some men?

People romanticize those in uniform as being larger-than-life and heroic. They might be associating uniforms with bravery, courage, and a noble spirit. Other people might just be turned on by power, strength, discipline and sheer force of will. Or a little of both, who knows. Either way, military dress signals to prospective mates "I am so much more interesting and exciting than your average slob." Another point to consider is that uniforms are very streamlined and structured, and expected to be worn crisp and clean at all times. This reinforces the qualities listed above. A sloppy uniform with an untucked shirt, unshined shoes, dirty pants, messy hair, etc. would completely undermine the effect. Since many women are used to seeing straight men who don't invest much time or effort in maintaining their appearance, it's no wonder they think of men in uniforms as being more appealing.

I think that it is because they show that they are determined, and motivated at life to be successful. When I say successful, I don't mean money wise, but happy with their life, and living comfortably.

This isn't the "AB4 Adults" bit so I'm not going to be able to go into much detail- please use imagination. Policemen, the Militiary and other uniformed men are in postions of authority. Essentially a policeman (or several policemen) *could* arrest you and require you to perform certain tasks to get out of whatever it is. In the back of a van. Or in a secluded warehouse- or something... Its a ready made fantasy. Authority and the potential to use force appeals to a lot of people. And policemen get their own handcuffs. Excuse me, I have to go do something....

In my experience, it is because women are used to so frequently seeing men dressed casually or shabbily. Uniforms are streamlined, neat, and unusual- we don't see them all around us everyday. For some women, the uniform also, as another poster mentioned, can signify bravery or nobility.

It's all a matter of control, and who possesses it. Have you ever heard of sadism and masochism? Look those terms up if you haven't. Some people like to control and others like to be controlled, and of course, there are those who enjoy taking on both roles. Men in uniform exude an aura of authority, of power, of control. They can order you around and tell you what to do. They can punish you for being naughty. Some people find this VERY attractive.

hm, I don't think its so much the uniform, well maybe it is. I think its just they are in a group, that most women associate to being, healthy, in shape, athletic, saves lives, takes lives, weapons. Something about the mixture, of that. Bad boy, all american, but yet a good boy. The idea of them going through bootcamp, they're tough, mentally and physically.

I always thought it was a protection thing.. Usually men in uniform are in positions where they save people's lives. But, the authority and power idea makes sense to me too.

I've pondered this question ever since I realized that some women were attracted to me simply because I was in my US Army officer's uniform. I think there are several reasons for this: 1. If the uniform fits well, it is an attractive uniform in itself. 2. The uniform stands for service to Country ( as well as a willingness to sacrifice for others ). 3. Most people who are allowed to wear the uniform are in excellent physical condition. 4. People who wear the uniform have a steady income. There may be more reasons, but those are the primary ones I have been able to discover.

What uniform are we talking about here? trashman, directv, waterworks, or military? I assume you are talking about either the police or the military. I do not have this attraction to women or men in uniform, but some people do. Maybe, its because a person "in uniform" is someone that is looked up to. maybe, its the cleanliness of the person and uniform together that makes the attraction. I answered this call that involved a 6 year old girl. her mom and dad had been arguing and she called the police. after everything settled on this call, as i was leaving, this little 6 year old girl came running to my police car. she had a gift for me. she gave me a torn out page from her coloring book. she reached out her arms for me to pick her up. i did. she placed both her warm little hands on my face and said, "i just love old cops". my heart melted. i will remember this till my dieing days. This little girl loved the uniform. She was watching Cops on the television, at the time.

guilty as charged!!!! Usually, but not always, the uniform indicates that he has been through some sort of well disciplined training. This can help create men of higher honor and integrity. (but its not fool proof, men with no honor and no integrity will HIDE behind these uniforms)

its cuz it gives them an aura (just an aura now) of being responsible, manly, snappy dresser, having authority, strength, protective traits, toughness, integrity to some 'code' or cause greater than themselves.. if its a nicely pressed uniform it can make them seem taller too. its just sexy. plus i imagine its way fun to be helping the dude out of his uniform.. buttons and buckles and straps and whatnot! whee! you know a big part of getting a present is how fun it is to unwrap it!

Authority. When my Marine BF comes home my body quivers when I see him in his dress uniform. I shake all over and can't wait to do his bidding.
