  • Norton AV is not free software. Sure, there may hacked versions floating around, but you won't want a copy. AV software is useless if you are unable to update it regularly. New viruses come out every day. If you are looking for a free AV program, get AVG. It is available at http://www.grisoft.com It does not come with any technical support, but it is a good program.
  • I like Avast Antivirus. http://www.avast.com Avast Home Edition requires a free registration that you have to renew yearly, but it offers free automatic updates. I have never been infected with a virus since I started using it.
  • Unless you have a valid subscription to obtain the Norton virus definitions, you're out of luck to stay up to date permanently. If that particular version is Norton's Internet Security 2005 and was store bought, you CAN un install the software, re install it again from the cd and get another year of protection. It's a bug in the code that technically, you can legally take advantage of.
