Try drinking lots of water and keep a water bottle handy at all times, as you will be inlicned to sip rather than eat to keep your hands and stomach busy. ALternatively, buuy a large box of chewing gum and keep these in your pcket, if it's very storng mint flavour this should put you off eating other things as they would taste awful after the mint.
-
drinking a lot of water helps because it makes you think you are full. burning vanilla candles is supposed to help aswell but i dont exactly know why its just something ive heard. if you really do need to snack try snacking on fruit and it will do you know harm. also pin a picture up of you at a weight you want to be and every time you feel like cheating look at the photo and it will stop you from having the snack good luck

I've found it best for me to eat my biggest meal at lunch time. Then have a light dinner followed by an early bedtime, around 8:30. Some studies I've seen suggest that staying up later is death on dieters because you eat more because you are awake and are usually vegging out on a movie or channel surfing, activites that encourage snacking.

When I do Weight Watchers, my weakness is dessert. So I buy WW desserts (the little chocolate cakes are great and only 1 point) and make sure that I leave enough points for them after dinner. You need to budget your points to about 5 for breakfast, 5 for lunch and 7 for dinner. This leaves enough for a snack or dessert. When you have weight loss success, you'll have more self control because you will be seeing results.

I eat an early dinner then work out from 7-9pm. It totally kills my evening snacking by keeping me busy during snacking hours and motivates me to be healthy when I do eat. If I'm hungry after exercising, I enjoy a high protein snack that fills me up without the fat. Some have trouble working out at night, but if you sign up for a class with buddies it will give you amazing results. Good luck, hang in there!

everyones answers are good, are you excercising as well?drinking water before a meal will fill you up faster by taking up space in your stomach.a-lot of people dont realize that you shouldnt eat till your stuffed.you should eat untill your comfortable.food shouldnt be your enemy, eat often but eat the right things.what your craving is your bodies way of telling you what its deficiancies are.snack on fruit to help with the sweet cravings. remind yourself that you have set a goal for yourself!

I found that I got scared of being hungry in the evening. So I really had to work on myself telling me not to be scared. I worked out strategy for the evening. I know it is not wise to focus on food to much, but I would plan the evening meal. I make sure that I drink water before and after the meal. Do the usual things put your knife and fork down between mouthfuls, and chew chew chew. I have also found that a banana smoothie about an hour before bed helps enormously. One banana, 2 tablespoons no fat natural yoghurt, 1 tablespoon natural honey and 1 glass of no fat milk. Pop all in a blender and whizz away until smooth. This stops me waking during the night hungry, and next morning I am hungry for breakfast. I guess the most important thing is knowing that you can actually survive the evening without bingeing. You can do it.

I good way to lose weight is to have a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a half glass of water. It should be unfiltered with "Mother" in it.This is a term showning that it is natural.A little honey can be used if it is too bitter. This should be taken first thing in the morning, before meals, and before bed.Apple cider vinegar curbs the appetite and is very healthy.
-
Well what you should really try to do is to drink a COLD glass of water before you eat, it has been proven to make you eat less and curve your appetite, the big meals are not a good idea, you should at least eat six small meals and snack on veggies and fruits so you can keep feeling full
-
Dieting is all about routine. Either sleep (!), or when you feel a craving coming on or hunger setting in, tell yourself firmly NO! And suffer the discomfort. You'll make a new routine in no time that will benefit you in the long run.
-
I used to get up and exercise during every commercial, so instead of hitting the fridge, or just sitting there, I was doing little 5 minute calorie burns, and raising my metabolism. Alternatively, go look at something you really want to fit into- instead of looking in the fridge... trying on clothes every day keeps you busy.
-
try to keep yourself preocupied. go for a walk, watch a movie, and just think about how terrible you will feel if you lose control. Just keep thinking to yourself that your doing good and you dont need this food, you can eat in the morning. drinking water helps too.
-
I guess that in the evening you are probably not doing much , so i would suggest you try to keep busy with something then. Maybe you should Try arrange a get-together with some of your friends .

Here is my simple trick. It may sound silly but Pickles!!! Pickles are full of flavor, give you something to really bite into and have virtually no nutritional value at all. Be careful not to do this too much though because they do have a lot of sodium.

DOH

Drink water, but also I recommend you use Juice Plus Thins - they are a chewable wafer that makes you feel full. Nothing but natural ingredients and healthy nutrients. Try it, I use them as well. http://www.jphealth.com

Here's a tip: DO NOT KEEP ANY EXTRA FOOD in the house. Big bag of chips, dips, candy, snacky food. If it's there you're going to battle the cravings. It's hard! I know it! I love to eat!! for some people it's not only a passion but an addiction. My opinion is that it isn't the food or diet. Eating sensibly is a lifestyle change. Throw the diet away and learn how to eat sensibily. No extra food and start working on your portions! EX: If you treat yourself to McDonalds, take half of the french fries---And throw them away!!!! Don't eat the Big Mac, go for 2 hamburgers instead. Lifestyle change-----Small steps----you can do it. Tip: Treat yourself to something you love---Just once a week. But don't engorge yourself. A regular portion. You can still satisfy some of your cravings. Good luck.

I'm assuming in the evenings you are at home...so I have one piece of advice for you. Don't keep junkfood in your house!
-
Are you eating too few calories during the day and then you have let yourself get too hungry so you lose control in the evenings? Try eating more early in the day and see if it helps. Breakfast like a Queen, lunch like a Princess and dinner like a pauper. Also, are you really really HUNGRY? Or are you mindless eating. One test for that can be. You think "I'm hungry", tell yourself "You may eat that apple (orange, banana, carrot sticks...)" If you think "ok that sounds good." Then chances are you ARE really hungry and you should eat it. However, if your first thought is "That doesn't sound good. I want chips, cookies, ice cream..." Then you are NOT truly hungry and you should stop yourself. Find something to do, call a friend, read a book, take a walk, take a bubble bath, brush your teeth...
-
Try filling up throughout the day on high fiber foods. That way at night you won't feel as hungry. I also agree with not keeping junkfood in the house, eating bigger meals throughout the day, and drinking lots of water.
-
If you can deny your cravings for just nine minutes, you can usually get past it. Afte that a craving usually goes away. And if you do feel like eating, what texture or mouth feel are you thinking about? Do you want some crunch? Then try some celery. Do you want something creamy? Try one spoonful of yogurt or something you like. THen stop and go do something else.

hi while the answers in general are ok most are off the wall. as the digestive system is auto matic there is NOTHING one can do to change digestion!! get off this almighty idea that thinking bout food makes any change in digestion and life. eat your 2000 calories and get on with life. one dosnt have to eat in the morning lunch time or dinner time or in the middle of the night, just eat and live life.however if one eats too much and spends all there time looking at pakages one will suffer. people who suggest that there is a differnce between eg:corn flakes in the process of digetion are talking nonsence!! moke

i always work out as soon as i get off of work. (i have a 100 cal balance bar first) then after a hour and a half work out, i get home and have a light dinner and a small bowl of cereal or something. research shows that a bowl of high fiber cereal after dinner makes you feel less hungry for the rest of the night. also, by working out before dinner, so long as you have a good snack first, you will be wayyy less hungry for a super duper dinner. i'm studying dietetics right now.
-
Throw away the junk. clean out your fridge. And don't buy any more.
-
When you feel the urge to eat something, take a walk, brush your teeth, drink a bottle of water, take up a hands-on hobby, like sewing or cross-stitch or knitting where your hands are engaged in something other than eating. There are many things you can do to trick your mind into not eating. Be resourceful for what interests you and keep a mantra in your head that says "hunger is my friend". Good luck - I know what a struggle it can be. I lost my weight on South Beach and once I got over the carb addiction, it was downhill after that!
-
Remove yourself from the temptation. Get out, go to a friends or, if there is some activity you like, partake in that. If you can remove yourself from the food, whether physically or at least taking your attention off of the craving, you can keep yourself on track.
-
I am also following WW. I would ask WHY you lose your self control..Are you bored, lonely, anxious , tired ? If you can find the root of the problem it will be easier to find a solution. If it is a case of still being hungry, have a snack ! Thats what the flex points are for. When I crave something sweet personally it is usually because I haven't had enough protein or fat during the day. I first will have a teaspoon of peanut butter (1wwpt) to see if that kills the craving.Everyone is different but for me it usually works. Another trick is I make my evening meal as intersting and flavorful as possible. I use a lot of salsas, hot sauce, condiments and vegetables. Depriving yourself isnt going to work long term. If you are just starting out its going to take your body a few weeks to adjust. Don't be hard on yourself. You can do this !!
-
first and foremost, you need to always plan ahead as much as possible what you are going to eat (within your daily points limit) and shop accordingly. keep healthy, low point foods in the house and get rid of all the junk. drinking lots of water also helps me out and getting some kind of exercise. I hate "working out" (i.e. going to gyms, exercise equipment) but I enjoy walking so I walk over a mile on my lunch hour every day. Having supportive people around you always helps (friends, family and other WW buddies). for me, continuing to go to meetings even though I am now Lifetime helps keep me motivated and focussed.
-
Carrots. Get veggies ready for evening snacking. In a couple weeks you'll loose your cravings for the sugars & salts.
-
my mother has been overweight all of her life. my father always taped pictures of slim and sexy women in swimsuits on the refrigerator door. it didn't work for my mother but maybe it might work for you....

before a meal drink a full glass of water this will give you a full feeling and take your time eating. When you serve yourself put your food on a smaller plate this will give you the feeling that you are pigging out but it will be a smaller serving. Make sure that your meals during the day are small try eating just a salad for lunch with all 0 pt veggies and fat free italian dressing which is also 0 pts. Subway is a great meal to fill you up for dinner or a side salad with your meal. This way you will have a lot of pts left for dinner and also hopefully some bonus pts. Blue Bunny ice cream and weight watchers have good ice cream snacks I usually eat at night after dinner. A lot of times people go crazy during the day and then by the time dinner comes they are eating with people that aren't on a diet and fall off the wagon.
-
Try having a piece of fruit. Most fruits have a high water content so they fill you up with very few calories. They also have a lot of vitamins and minerals that are great for anyone dieting...good luck
-
hoodie supplements.. natural hunger suppressants a lot of the time your body is trying to tell you that you are not actually hungry you are thirsty.
-
Tell yourself that food doesn't taste as good as being skinny feels. Iam on weight watchers and have lost 13 pound for the month of October. I had the same problem but I got the weight watchers ice cream pops and now I feel like I'm cheating and it is only one point. I say eat all day just snack through the day. Good luck!!!

Keep yourself busy and change your routine. One of the big reasons we snack in the evenings is habit! You get used to sitting in front of the TV with a bag of popcorn, or a pack of Oreos. Instead of sitting in front of the TV, get up and do something else. Also, it helps if you have some small portions of healthy snacks ready, so something like an apple that's already cut into slices a small bag of nuts, mini rice cakes, a fat free yoghurt, or pudding. Of course the other thing you can do is get rid of any temptations that you have in the house. If you don't have it available you can't eat it! Good Luck.

Are you surrounded by kids or other people at night that are not on the diet?
-
Try eating a piece of fruit, hot chocolate, or a small scoop of sorbet for dessert. Instead of starving yourself, focus on smaller portions until it is a habit. Eat slowly, enjoy your food, and try to go to bed early.
-
I'm having similar problems being home all day during the holidays. I suggest the following: 1) work out after dinner which can actually suppress your appetite 2) drink lots of water 3) snack on veggies & fruit 4) keep busy in the evening 5) avoid the TV I hope that helps!!

After dieting on-and-off since I was thirteen, now at the age of 23 I can say with certainty that you really have to STRIKE A BALANCE. Eat JUST enough so that you don't get hungry later and binge. Find out what that 'just enough' amount is, pay attention that you don't pass it, and then slowly decrease it. The size of your actualy stomach (the organ, not your 'belly') will shrink pretty quickly, and you can gradually decrease your 'just right' amount. Remember that if you need to eat 250 calories now (say, a sandwich), DO SO rather than 2500 later (say, everything you can get your hands on). BE REALISTIC. Your self-discipline will backfire if it's stretched too far. Even anorexic women end up putting the weight back on, or they die.
-
I guess that the first question that you have to ask yourself is are you eating because you are bored? I know that somtimes I eat just for somthing to do, especially during the evenings I have found that if I keep my self occupied during the evenings I don't break my diet, I use dumbells or do crosswords basically anything. If you are getting hungry then perhaps try and eat some high fibre foods? so that you feel fuller longer, or even try to eat dinner a little later than usual perhaps?
-
I chew a lot of gum in the evening. I allow myself a snack but its either popcorn, or low cal yogurt, pudding etc. Also drinking hot tea fills you up real fast. I avoid apples at night because after I eat it, I feel like I want to eat something else. Maybe its the sugar in it. Make a list of healthy snacks and only buy those snacks when you're at the grocery store.
-
Go to sleep before evening.
-
you cant ask others to help you boost your "SELF" control..thats somethign you need to bring out on your own. Look in the mirror and tell yourself how good you CAN adn WILL be after your weight watchers journey =]
-
my friend had this problem.....we u have a craving make popcorn...not the stuff already bagged and coated...just a bag on kennels and cook that its neally totally fat free and its works n its cheap
-
um...dont keep yourself completely from the foods you love and that wont happen(its true)
-
I have this same problem. I have come to realize that I will always want to eat before bedtime and that evening eating is what I like and want. Therefore I'm going to have to not eat so much during the day so that I can eat more at night. One thing that I had an epiphany on today was the thought of hunger. I mean really when you think of it it's not that painful so what's the big deal about being hungry? Maybe I should just work through the hunger pains and move past them........allow them to be there and become one with them. I don't know it's a thought.
-
i am the exact same this morning i was doing so well and now its come to about tea time i am absolutely stuffing myselff!

Hi, I am a personal trainer and weight management consultment that struggles personally with night time eating. In fact, I am trying not to eat now. My best tips, eat a really good snack at four pm, like a progressive light soup, two points so you do not go into dinner starving. The best book I found for behavior modification is by Stephen Gullo, the thin commandments diet author. Watch portions at dinner, and then snack on sugar free pospsicles, that won't blow your diet. Good luck! lbschiff
-
This helped me ...well i started eating larger breakfast and lunch. Not only does it make u less hungry during the night, but it also helps u keep the mentality that U already ate what u needed. Well that worked for me anyway. Ummm the best way to not lose control is to realllly reaaalllyy tell yourself that u want to lose the weight...keep repeating it to yourself when u have an urge to eat more than what u should. ALSO...fruit is a good thing...at night much on a banana or apple...there were some times where i would eat LOTS of fruit from being hungry at night...like 3 apples and 2 oranges...i thought it would mess me up, but it didn't. So just remember to eat larger in the day times...and fruit and water or tea at night. GOOD LUCK
-
I have a problem of eating when I'm bored. I think it's because I link eating to certain activities, like watching a movie or going to certain hangouts with my friends. Try changing your routine for awhile and see if that helps. I know it has helped me stay off the snacking.
-
WW was the worst diet i ever went on, you cannot live on the same amount of food, daily, as the average 2 year old, once ppl come off it, their weight goes straight back on
-
Green tea and acai berry. Check out Oprah.
-
when you go shopping for the week get real healthy things to eat and all the junk food put it out of site. i lock mine away and leave the key at work so if i last through the day I can't eat the bad food at night.
-
When you feel hungry drink water! Most of the time your body feels hungry it's actually thirsty. Winter is the worst, because it's so cold you don't feel thirsty because we generally drink water to cool down. It's true you're not not losing fluids through sweat but in winter your water in take may be so low that you are still getting dehydrated. Then a good balanced diet blah blah blah, you know the drill.
-
Try having oatmeal/ porridge in the evening, it's low cal but hot and filling.
-
tire yourself out during the day so you just want to fall asleep as soon as you're home! so do loads of exercise or arrange to do something in the evening like going to a dance class. and keep loads of diet drinks at your house so you can drink those if you get a craving for something sweet, and loads of fruit. and don't keep sweets/chocolate/cake/tempting food in the house! good luck!
-
dont have crap food anywhere near you, your less likely to binge on it if you have to drive to a store in the middle of the night to buy it.
-
I'm on WW, too and I stay out of the kitchen at night.
