You can open your eyes, but eyes need air in front of them to focus. Without goggles, you can expect everything to be blurry.
-
I have always been able to open my eyes underwater, but I am so nearsighted I could still not see anything clearly.
-
Hi Galeanda. I always use goggles. I know they look ridiculous, but I don't like opening my eyes under water because it's uncomfortable. I can keep them open though. Besides, you can see much more clearly with goggles on.
-
I have to use goggles.
-
i dont use goggles.
-
I don't have to use goggles, but then my eyes turn real red from all the chlorine
-
Yes if the water is not salty but with goggles if the water is salty
-
Sure I can, but as with everyone's eye's without goggles, everything will be really blurred.
-
You can open your eyes under water by if you're in a pool or the ocean the bleach and salt will really bother and hurt you. Also, you can't see all that well under water without goggles
-
Depends on which water. If a pool has too much chlorine or other chemicals, my eyes get very irritated. If the chemicals aren't too strong, I do keep my eyes open under water. I did that all the time when I was young.
-
It depends where you're swiming ie; chlorinated pool, fresh water unpolluted spring, sea water. You'll probably need googles for chlorinated pools and swimming at the beach/sea, but if your lucky enough to have access to fresh upolluted water springs then you probably wouldn't need to. It's alot about additives/pollution in the water and your own irritability tolerance.
-
I can keep them open without goggles, but I'd rather use the goggles and do without the burning, red eye look.
-
Yep, though after some hours in the water doing so, chlorine or salt start to burn them; so then I put on goggles, but they don't always stay airtight.
-
Yes I usually swim with my eyes open. No goggles needed for me.
-
forget the goggles, they never seem to work for me anyways
-
I cant keep them open in a pool and in a lake but at the beach i need goggles.
-
Goggles. The salt or chlorine doesn't work with my contact lenses. Here's a laugh: http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/3357000
-
For 2 seconds, but it irritates my eyes
-
I can but never do because my eyes get really sore!
-
I can keep them open, prefer not to unless I'm in my own pool.
-
Of course! When i swim at the sea i need to see where i'm going. This summer having my eyes open cancelled my meeting with a plate-sized jellyfish.
-
I've worn contacts for so many years that I haven't been able to open my eyes in the water. I remember doing it as a kid though. I'd like to get lasic surgery done some day. I'd be able to open my eyes again. For now, if I need to see underwater, I use goggles.
-
I like to open my eyes unless there is to much chlorine ;0)
-
I am a goggle person and have a hard time seeing without them.
-
I never use goggles while swimming.
-
I never liked goggles..water would seep in anyway, so I saw no point to them. Yes, I could open my eyes under water and keep them open. :)
-
I keep my eyes open under water without goggles.
-
I have never used goggles in water. I just open my eyes.
-
I can't even open my eyes in the shower even though I know that water's clean, so I always use goggles.
-
I can keep them open.
-
I'd go with goggles. Our eye are not designed for water.
-
I just open my eyes :)
-
Opened eyes, even if in pool-water(chlorine).
-
Although I can open my eyes under water and keep them open, I prefer to use goggles or a diving mask ... especially in heavily chlorinated pools and dirty open water lakes and oceans ...
-
I can't open my eyes underwater... I always use goggles! But i haven't really tried with no goggles...
-
IDK. I don't put my head underwater to know. It scares me to death to have my entire head wet. With the chlorine and stuff though I don't see how I would be able to keep them open. I am not sure I want to know what people are doing underneath the water. :) (if you get the point.
-
I think i can open my eyes underwater but i usually use goggles. I dont open my eyes in chlorine or salty water.
-
Depends on the water. Sometimes I'd rather not see what's on the bottom of the pool too...
-
Depends on the amount of chlorine. But i usually wear goggles. They look vair cool *sarcasm*
-
The chlorine and children's excretion causes ur eyes to not be able to see underwater in a swimming pool but in the ocean i dont know for sure but u should be able to have a better time seeing because ur eyes are not exposed to a high amount of poison as from a swimming pool (who the fuck knows?) and its natural for our eyes to be able to see underwater in a clear lake or something
-
Not at all. I also have to hold my nose... Is there something wrong with my nose lol? I have always became frusterated plugging my nose ):
-
i keep my eyes open underwater, i close them when im diving in, or in the sea though lol
-
If I dropped something and just need to pick it up, I'll open my eyes under water. If I am swimming laps, though, I wear goggles.
-
You can, but it may not be a smart idea. If you are in a pool, dangerous chemicals in chlorine like hydrochloric acid will seep up into your eyeballs and cause your vision to be a little bit blurred. You should use goggles when your eyes are under any kind of water (except when you are in a bathtub or something :)). Tell me what you all think of my answers! Please rate!!
-
i can open my eyes in water but i can,t open for long time. For long time i need glasses.
-
I can but it does sting a little, and it's extremely blurry
-
People can open their eyes under water...even if it is ocean water...but it will in most cases cause some eye irritability if open for too long...
