  • Hello everyone!!! When i got home around 4 at the dorm, MSNBC was the channel that was on, so i watched it for a good 2 hrs and seeing that Obama was still in the lead, i changed the channel around 6 to catch that 70s show and LH. So me and this girl were just chillin watchin the epi and all of a sudden, one of the lady's changed it and so there was a small misunderstanding btwn the girl and the women (not much of a big deal), but i still thought that was rude. anyway, we finally just let them turn it to see who our next president was. i didn't care anyway, cause i was gonna turn it back after LH, but i was still mad cause of how these people were ruining "The big night". so, i went to my room and fell asleep. i wanted to find out who was pres so bad, but i don't know what i was thinkin i might of went back if i hadn't fallen asleep. ok here's the exciting part, i was woken up out of my sleep :O (i go to an HBCU: Historically Black College/University so u know it got routy!) they were so loud! I heard "OBAMA WON!" "! OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA!" and "YES WE CAN, YES WE CAN, YES WE CAN!" (Which was turned into, YES WE DID, YES WE DID, YES WE DID!) We were so happy! Some of us even cried! We saw it all go down on ABC. We saw Oprah and Jesse Jackson crying too. I was so glad i didn't miss it. It was around 10:00 pm. I called my mom and she was sleep and didn't know yet, so i told her and my sis and they were going crazy in that house! My mom was like "Praise God! Halellujah!" and she then called my stepdad who was out truck driving, so i also called my bro who was also sleep and he was happy too! People who took the shuttle bus who were just coming in from the college (i live in an off campus suite) told us that everyone at college was outside in the streets celebrating, even our college president Dr. Mcclure was out ringing the church bell! Everyone was so amped! Even when i tried to go to sleep around 12:30, people in the dorm were bumpin "My President's Black" LOL! Man history was made last night and i am so glad to be a part of it!
  • well it was my first time to vote so that was pretty exciting... BUT... i had trouble finding my voting place and when i found it (in hicksville usa where there is no cell phone service) i went right in and voted bc there were literally 2 ppl there. then i went home and made dinner and crashed before i found out who won. i didnt know until this morning when i saw a billboard exclaiming "OBAMA WON" on my way to work.
  • It was anti-climatic. I was looking forward to the election day coverage all month but when it happened, it was evident within the first 30 minutes after 7pm when some of the polls were closing that Obama would win. I was hoping for some suspense and drama and that McCain would win some battleground states to make the night's coverage exciting since most networks was covering the election from 7pm-11pm but the fight was over early. I wanted something similar to Bush vs. Gore in 2000.

  • Worked as a pollworker. My fifth year. Always a high point of my year. People on line were great, we put through about 400 during the first two hours. Got up at 4:30 AM arrived at poll at 5:30; opened at 7:00 AM closed poll at 7:00 PM total voters around 3000. In our precincts McCain won, but by the time I got home at 8:30 it was apparent that Obama would win. AS a person who heard MLK speak, and always sympathized with the civil rights movement I was totally thrilled by the outcome. I had a very close friend who has died, but who did work with Martin Luther King, and also with Bishop Tutu when he traveled to the US or Europe, and I was saddened that my friend Bob had died and had not lived to see this day. A nation changed, a nation full of possiblilties. Bob was a believer and if he was right in his faith I know that he was up there, beaming down with pride, knowing that what he had worked and what he had dreamed of had finally come true.
