  • The amount that is stipulated in the contract.
  • I have the same question. The contract says there is a 16% service charge (set up charge) that is NOT a gratuity and that gratuity is optional. Other places give a 18-20% gratuity for buffets. Would I be expected to pay both the 16% plus the 18% gratuity? What is wait staff expecting in this situation. Do I tip based on hours of service or use something other than total bar bill for bartender or food catered in for wait staff?
  • How much do you tip the concierge at one's apartment building?
  • If you can afford to cater a party at your home. The size of the tip shouldn't be an issue you cheap ****!
  • If the service was bad --- no tip. Average service-- 10% of the bill. Good service -- 15%. Superior service --20% Look at your contract closely, however...often a 15% tip is already figured in and if you tip again, you will be WAY overtipping.
  • in the USA, 10-15% the waitstaff should get some kind of tip. I used to work for a catering company. Not everyone tipped. Most people usually gave us something....
