I don't believe in one "best" of anything, but right at this moment, I will say the best song I've ever heard is "Heart of the Sunrise" by Yes.
-
Why did ' What's the best song you've ever heard' ( http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/627728 ) get moved here? Best and beautiful may be the same for some folks, but not all. Certainly not for me. Neither 'Subterranian Homesick Blues' nor 'He's in the Jailhouse Now' are beautiful. Yesterday is 'beautiful but is not even the 'best' Beatles song. With respect to other answerers Me and Mrs. Jones aint zackly beautiful, and Louis Armstongs voice can hardly be classified as such.

The theme from Schindler's List. Make me shiver every time it's played. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueWVV_GnRIA

I truely think it would have to be HIDE AND SEEK by IMOGEN HEAP. It's an amazing song, with little or no background music. She uses an unusal technique to make her voice 2 tones, and it just sounds so incredible! ((I have to throw another song out there that deserves recognition as a beautiful or intruiging song. It's called SIX UNDERGROUND by SNEAKER PIMPS.
-
Even though I STILL have problems understanding the lyrics (at some points it seems like she's singing to her dead mother, and some points to the end of her relationship with a boyfriend...) I love "Nothing Compares To You" by Sinead O'Connor.
-
Well It's a hymn really, but so beautiful. Amazing Grace
-
Amazing Grace How sweet the sound
-
Can't say, dan. Too many songs. But, "Your Face", is up there at the top. "The first time that ever I saw your face, I thought the Sun rose in your eyes, ..and the Moon and stars were the gifts you gave,...to a dark and lonely night, my Love,..to a dark and lonely night."
-
I love this song by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

It would be a tie between, Only Time, by Enya,... & Angel, by Sarah McLachlan. Two beautiful songs.

When I heard this song for the first time, it was like my inside self had a sound. The title is "Daxalusshiliik [Go Ahead & Run]" and it was written and performed by Ysabella Brave. Here are the lyrics and a rough translation (The following text is from her YouTube page): ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ "A new original song in the language of my People in Apsaalooke (Crow Native American) for you to enjoy. Our language is dying somewhat as there aren't many of us, and while I am learning it, I wrote a song which I hope you enjoy!!! Happy Valentine's day! Love +Ysabella Brave Daxalusshiliik LYRICS: Shika'akam xalusshik kala'a chua Ak aapshiichik Alu'ua tatchuukak Aasu'ua xawuaxapik Bilaxe dituum shilusshik Bahchilasuuk! Shikaake aammisuuk, bahchilasuuk Shikaake Xussuuk, bahchilasuuk Shika'akam xalusshik kala'a aakdoosko Daxalusshiliik Baape kalashiak ishi'tchiia xapi'iaash ochikaapik bacheesh sahkeem kuuk ialashilik! Boys are mischievous they are fast runners the days are so much longer Then he found his weapon he'd lost and came to his senses, came back. He barely made it! I know he understands my hardships, and he knows me among the crowd I was going to go with him, but I didn't. While he runs away on the other side, I will run away on this side. He can go on and run, I will go on and sing. " -- © 2008 All rights reserved Ysabella Brave
