i believe its anything fluorescent, like your typical highlighter pens (yellow, orange, pink, green etc)! But i could be wrong.

A true NEON tube, that uses clear glass will give red-orange glow. When you see differnet colours it is mercury vapour and argon gas giving UV light. The UV light hits phosphor (a whitish dust on the inside of the tube) which turns it into a colour light. (think of a blacklight wrapped in fluorescent green paper) So if you see a neon tube that is off, and its clear, chances are its going to be orange when its on. If its white looking when its off, its coated in phosphor on the inside and may be any colour!

mushroom Neon tubes could in theory be made any color, but the most common are orange, pink, blue, green, yellow and white. They work essentially the same was as fluorescent bulbs except the latter usually has a phosphor coating on the glass, while true neon tubes are clear glass with a mixture of gases: neon, argon, krypton, mercury and xenon.
