Irresponsible People!
-
The first thing is irresponsibility. The second is a degree of sympathy because people are so dependent on cars to work and live while insurance is so high. That sympathy is dulled by two factors: (1) If it costs them too much to insure, they certainly do not have the resources to act responsibly if they cause injury, property damage, or death. (2) Many people are completely unwilling to explore the possibility of using public transportation or walking. In most states, it is not insurance that is required, but proof of financial responsibility. One can self-insure, but one must show proof of ability to act responsibly toward others. It is simply the Golden Rule.

I'm a claims adjuster. two things come to mind: "Arizona doesnt allow uninsured motorist property damage coverage....no sir, that is for BODILY INJURY, not for your car." second- If you live in WA, CA, OR, AK, or UT Get a police report, even for a hit and run. you'll need it to use your uninsured motorist property damage coverage, even if the other person shows you an insurance card, assume they didnt pay their premium.
-
An ever increasing percentage of drivers on the road..and it's going to get worse. Alot of the people driving un insured are not, irresponsible..many are making the difficult decision between insurance and a roof over their heads now days.

A very long story comes to mind which I will shorten lol. My husband and I are coming home in rush hour and are in almost dead stopped traffic. A guy is pushing his car down the side of the road which was weird so we both looked. And of course my husband rear-ends the car ahead... which was uninsured and didn't even have an American drivers license. The end.

If you are involved in an accident and neither you nor the owner of the vehicle is insured, the investigating officer will probably give you a citation for driving uninsured. Even if you are not cited, you will get in trouble with the DMV

Kenneth.......my friend's 18 yr old son who received a traumatic brain injury when an individual with a revoked license driving his girlfriend's unregistered and uninsured vehicle crossed the median and slammed into Kenneth's car at 70 mph less than 3 weeks ago. Other driver expired, and Kenneth's life has been drastically changed forever.

A bad word. I was rearended by a kid a few months ago. She presented the officer with an insurance card, and I agreed with the officer that it was just an accident and I didn't think that she needed a ticket. Imagine my surprise and dismay when I called her insurance company and was told that it had been cancelled due to non-payment four months prior. Needless to say I was more than angry. I tried calling her and ended up speaking with her mom (another irresponsible piece of trash) and was told that they didn't have the money to fix my truck. So, it seems to me that only people that force room into their budgets for insurance are required to carry it. If you are broke or just don't feel like paying for it (I would rather spend my yearly premium on new purses or a dishwasher etc...) well I guess you don't have to. Who isn't broke right now?

About 25% of American Drivers are uninsured and fit this category. I feel that if a driver can't afford insurance, then they can't afford to drive. Money, is the number 1 reason uninsured drivers say they don't buy insurance. Again, I feel that if a driver can't afford insurance, then they can't drive. I am all for much stiffer penalties and even take uninsured drivers to jail. I wish all cops would get on the same page and treat this almost as serious as they do a DWI.
