Human touch has been a topic of many scientific and various other studies. It has been proven that when a person has undergone a massage, the level of stress hormones decreases. Babies also gain an immense benefit from human contact. There have been numerous studies that were promted by the Romanian orphans. This is indeed a subject that if it interests you, it would be well worth your time to research it.

Hugging someone you love makes you warm all over. It makes your heart happy.
-
Nothing specific. Its another way of showing our warmth of friendship and affection to another person.

(This is part of what I've learnde from a years worth of Pysch classes and a summer to water down all the information I should have retained...so It may be a bit off). If babies are touched (in a postive way, no nasty "go to jail" free card way) they interact alot better with people and more times then not connect better later on in life. But for adult, or atleast people who arent babies, there was some study done (I forgot but I learned about it in a Pysch. class when we skimmed over the body language section) that proved that people whor ecieved more hugs were alot healthier and typiclly happier. It makes some sense since Humans crave contact, communication, and attention...and whats better then a hug?

Positive human touch is good for the immune system, similar to laughter. It lowers blood pressure and causes relaxation too.
-
It is an emotional connection to another person, which is a basic need.It allows you the emotional connection without the necessity of going any further emotionally nor physically to satisfy the need to demonstrate friendship.
-
It truly relieves a lot of tension. Hugging is also great for telling someone that you care. In police work, i have discovered that a hug is the best possible medicene a person could receive. I have watched this happen for 42 years.
-
I believe your physical being responds to this demonstration of comfort and warmth. I think one's cells respond to it.
-
It feels nice, that's benefit enough for me.

hugs always make me feel better. they make you feel comfortable, safe and warm. they can always brighten my spirits. have you ever seen people on the streets holding a sign that says "free hugs" and then people stop to get a hug. i think thats just what people need. if everyone recieved 1 hug a day the world would be a happier place
