  • Break your neck and be paralyzed from the neck down. This could happen by falling the wrong way or being hit by a car.
  • slipping out of your seat and onto the metal bar and losing your balls...ouch!
  • Was mountain biking one time, doing a hill climb and didn't make it. I was on the hill straddling the bike and went to reposition the bike under me. I pulled up on the handle bars and hit myself not in the balls, but on the bone behind my balls that I didn't even know I had! Holy frickin pass-out pain batman. After about 15 or 20 minutes, the cold sweats and dear in the headlights look went away and I was able to continue. My god man, I'll never forget it.
  • Had a very active friend who was hit by a guy turning left when he had the right-of-way... Knocked off his bike, hit his head, and broke his leg in two places... Coma for about 10 days, external fixator when he DID come out of the coma (and a trach), and took him some time to get his mind straight again. His wife cheated while he was recovering and they divorced. Oh... And for a guy who never took a pill in his life (he said), he was put on Pheno-barbitol for the rest of his life to keep seizures down. Now, he's 53, married again, has two beautiful daughters, and is programming computers (and teaching, I think) at Purdue. He was VERY lucky. MINOR things... Guys slipping off the seat and hitting the bar... The seat falling off unnoticed and sitting on the pipe... (OUCH)... The handlebars coming loose... The wheels falling off, sometimes in a jump... etc.
  • losing the seat and hitting a bump and becoming one with the bike.
  • miss a pedal squash a nut.
  • I dont know but the most embarrasing has to be what happened to me, put on my new cleat pedals, got to a busy cross roads, nice honey in the car next to me who I was trying to eye fuck (god knows why I was crammed into my unflattering lycra) suddenly I stopped and couldn´t get the cleats off. I fell sideways bashed my head on her car and fractured my wrist on the way down, but what was worse was i had to ´press up myself upright and ride on. needless to say I sped off through the red light at full speed embarassed until I got to the next corner, where I called my wife and got her to take me to hospital.(i didnt tell her the honey bit lol
  • Having your brakes fail when approaching a busy intersection. Especially if you're coming down a hill and no way to stop. Actually happened to me. Luckily no cars were coming at the time.
  • Falling off the bike and onto broken glass, especially if you fall face first into the glass.
  • falling off it and hurting yourself
