Yep!

Yes. And survived quite well, thank you very much.

Yes, at 7 or 8 years old (2nd/3rd grade) I had a key to let myself in after school. My parents "programmed" me to lock the door and set the alarm behind me! We even did drills! Ahh the joys of having an army dad. ;)

Yes, starting at age 9 up til I graduated.
-
I was.
-
Nope. Never latchkeyed.
-
Yes My mom was the closest to my grandparents so often she would be the one who would have to run over to their house and help out when one or the other was sick. At least 2 to 3 times a week we would be alone til she got home from my grandparents house.
-
Yep, at some point. For many years.
-
I was one before the term came about. Parents work, you were alone for hours, no key, our door was open!!!
-
Yup, but back then it really wasn't a big deal. I can't imagine my kids will ever be old enough to take care of themselves. I know they will, but not at 5 & 7 like me and my brother were.
-
They didn't call it that when I was a kid and where I lived. The doors were never locked so we needed no key, and nobody was ever harmed that I know of.
-
yes for many years...
-
Nope. Never even had a key to the house until I was already in high school. I don't recall what exact year, but it wasn't too long ago.
-
The epitome of latchkey.
-
Yep... Especailly after I hit 12 and was stocking a relatively small store myself (ok... with a little help from the cashier)
-
Nope. My mother never worked and was always home after school. When I was older (high school) I'd go to my father's hardware store to help there if needed.
-
Yes, but we only had one house key so it was left on a hook in the garage and the first one home got to unlock.
