Shawshank Redemption. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more grey -

"The Green Mile" based on Stephen King's novel, will always be my favorite. I cry every time I watch that poor guy get literally fried, and when Coffey sings "I'm In Heaven" when they execute him. I also cry when Coffey touches the jerk who really killed those little girls, because until that moment I actually thought he was the one that did it, and I was ashamed of myself when I saw what really happened.

Papillion. I remember seeing that when I was little and it so broke my heart. It's so, I don't know, sad and cruel, yet well who's to blame for what? Just how it worked back then I guess, in a time where perhaps principles and justice weren't taken for granted as today, where people really did believe in their values. It has great suspense parts too, I really love that movie. It's the same when I watch it now as it was when I first saw it years ago.

For my money it's "Brute Force," starring Burt Lancaster, Howard Duff, Charles Bickford, and Hume Cronyn as the sadistic captain of the guard -- one of the few times he played a villain. The music is great. And don't miss the last line of the movie!
