  • They won't, for when they are neutered (or spade), they lose that instinct.
  • Maybe cats no, but neutered male dogs will still mate with a female in season. Wouldn't trust a neutered male cat around a female in season. No kittens, but maybe infections.
  • i have a male neutered cat and he has sex with my female non spayed cat when she goes into heat. so its possible but, honestly, he seems to get bored very easily with it. Sorry Ms. Kitty!
  • yes but thay cant have kittens because the sack is amputated
  • I have a nuetered male persian who frequently tries to 'mount' another neutered male cat. (This includes the typical biting and holding behind the neck and humping.) Wisely the other male throws him off pretty quickly. Not sure how far it would progress with a receptive female.
  • My friend has a spayed female cat and a neutered male cat. He still humps her. She bites him, but he trys to get 'some' once in awhile. He may be balless, clawless, but still none the less a male!!!
  • I have just witnessed my neutered male cat mounting and mating with my unspayed female so yes, they DO do it even after they are fixed.
  • I have 4 cats, 2 of each sex, all speyed. My one year old male cat frequently mounts my 2 three year olds. He bites their necks, licks and stomps on them, with his legs trying to hold them down. The 2 much larger cats accept his canoodling for a while then throw him off and he gets a clip round the ear! Interestingly he never does this to my 9 month old female kitten. He is not as close to her, she is his playmate, so maybe this is a display of affection or is he just being choosy?
  • Yes they can,but they wont reproduce.years ago the way they used to neuter cats would stop them from having the urges to mate. They neuter differently now. Also breeders of pedigree cats keep a neutered male to use as a form of contraceptive to a calling queen they dont want mated. Because once mating has occured she will stop calling, but obviously wont be pregnant :)
  • Have spoken to a lady at cat rescue who says the apparent sexual moves have nothing whatsoever to do with sex. This behaviour is all about dominance. My one year old cat is trying to move up in the pecking order, he is currently No 3, but Nos 1 and 2 are having none of this so thats why they clip him round the ear and the female hisses too. The 2 older cats wash the younger ones, again about dominance. The cat who does the washing is always the dominant one. This all makes perfect sense to me as the 1 year old cat does not make sexual moves towards the 8 month old female kitten as he is already above her in the pecking order, although I have seen all 3 wash the kitten. Much as we humans want to see their behaviour as loving displays of affection this is not the case, its all about cats in multi cat households trying to be Top Cat. Absolutely nothing to worry about as the cats will sort it out themselves.
  • Actually, while the big drive is substantially reduced and even non-existent for many, perhaps even most animals, when they have been spayed, neutered, or gelded...I have seen plenty of times when altered animals HAVE entered into sexual play for fun. Granted...when it comes to dogs, they often will also mount each other as a show of dominance. But, I've also seen ones that were clearly in good humor all around and simply PLAYING. Specifically regarding cats...I also got to watch two of ours have at it...once. Shasta was about 12 or 13 when I found Sipper, a park stray, not quite a year old female that was starving. Shasta had been neutered before I adopted him at about 7 or 8 weeks of age. (the rescue place I got him lets NO cat leave without spaying or neutering to the point of doing it entirely too soon, especially for the invasive spay!) Shasta had not appeared to have ever entertained a sexual thought in his life. Sipper, as underweight as she was from starving, needed to gain some weight before our Vet would bother to check her for a spay scar. Plus, she was less likely to have a heat while so very under a healthy weight, plus all of our animals are spayed or neutered and after having her initial Vet Check, she was brought into the house from the Garage, and kept in the house. Well, Sipper did start to put on a healthy amount of weight! And as usually will happen.....if not spayed...SHE WENT INTO HEAT! (SURPRISE...guess she wasn't spayed already!) What an awful racket! EOUWWWWWHA...MMMRRRROOOROOOLLLL! "HELP ME, SOMEBODY, HELP ME...I NEED...I NEED...I WANT A LITTLE...UMMMM PLEASEEEEEEE!" After two solid days and nights of Sipper begging for a little assistance from one of the two (neutered Toms, or at one point ANYONE) Old Shasta decided, HE couldn't stand another minute of her non-stop yowling...and so he padded up behind her....straddled her, gently took a hold of the back of Sipper's neck (she immediately froze and stopped her screaching in anticipation of SOMETHING FINALLY BEING DONE!) AND....THEN... Shasta proceeded to MARCH IN PLACE while holding the back of her neck....nothing he had...ever came anywhere near...something she wanted attended to...at all...but HE MARCHED ON for several moments, while we watched and tried not to laugh. He dismounted...and Sipper looked at him, and then us a moment..."What the heck was THAT? Is that all there is to it?" The sound effects started up immediately... doubled in volume, if anything. Shasta shot us a look of panic...and REMOUNTED HER... same dance...round 2! This time, he marched in place, holding her neck for about twice as long....let go, dismounted... Sipper took one long look at him as if to say..."I don't believe you...this CAN'T BE all there is to it...I don't feel even a little bit better at all! SHEEZE!" And the SCREAMS BEGAN....AGAIN.... Shasta looked at US...with an expression of total disgust on his face..."Look people, I'm an old cat, I have NO CLUE as to what else I can try and do here! I gave it my best shot...I grabbed her neck, I marched...I HAVE TRIED MY BEST HERE...I don't KNOW what else SHE WANTS OF ME!!!! I'm going upstairs and try to find someplace where I might sleep...I'M DONE HERE!!!" and that...was that...about a week later, Sipper was finished her first (and final) heat...and she was safely spayed. Draw your own conclusions folks...I think Shasta was trying to SHUT HER UP! Shasta is (was) my beautiful Orange kitty-boy...and Sipper is on the left...with Sadie on the right...planning to knock Sippy off of the dresser...and a moment later...SHE DID! Sweet Shasta lived to be about 16...and the rest of the crew...Dogs and Cats...still brighten every day for us...joined by Saylore...who I got a few months after having Shasta put down.
