  • There is a very broad range of colonics, so there can't be a single answer, but generally they will cleanse your colon, particularly the longer-term systems. The colon is very important in general health, and is very often unhealthy when a person eats a western diet. Fecal impactions, bacterial overgrowth, stricture and diverticuli are unfortunately very common in the western meat-and-carbohydrate diet. The most effective colon cleansing products are those that are multi-stage, starting with an adsorptive mixture like bentonite clay that leach out poisons and toxins from impactions, then pass them out, followed by an herbal 'roto-rooting' course using such things as black walnut, insoluble fiber, anti fungal/parasitics like clove/garlic/oregano/octanoic acid, etc. to soften and remove the impactions and clean out parasites. Finally, a long course (4-6+ weeks) of systemic herbal cleansing and immune system supplementation to prevent recurrence should finish the job.
  • The human colon was designed to remove water (and only water) from digested food and leave everything else behind so that it would be swept out naturally. If your diet is lousy, improve your diet and don't think further abusing it with drugs is the way to go.

  • One of the big benefits of a cleansing diet is that it helps to improve the functioning of the immune system, and enhance the digestive enzymes in the body. Because these diets tend to be very alkaline in nature, it will promote better health than typical diets, which are acidic. When you eat a high acidic diet, your body is going to have to work harder to keep your blood pH constant.
  • I had a bad pain in my right side for like 5 days. I went to the doc and they did some tests and xrays..couldn't figure out what it was, not my appendix or liver or anything they could find..so I went to a specialist...found out it was a little bacterial infection in my lower intestine. He said there wasn't really much I could do for it other than take a lot of fiber, eat nothing but fruits and veggies for a few days and drink lots of liquids. He offered an antibiotic but said that it would more than likely take up to 12 days to get the antibiotic into my system and I would probably be over the infection by then...and I don't like to take any medications I don't need to take..especially antibiotics. So I went shopping for fiber, I ended up after talking to a nutritionist friend you suggested staying away from the colon/bowel cleanse products and fiber supplements and upped my natural sources of fiber and picked up a total body cleanse. The advice I got from my friend was not to use a 3 day one but to take a week long total body cleanse. The overnight or 3 day ones really just cause you to expel everything from your body but do not put anything good back in, and all it really does is dehydrate you and flush the colon somewhat..often in a brief and uncomfortable way. So I got a 7 day total body cleanse from GNC. The 7 day cleanse cleans your blood, liver, colon, kidneys, bowel, of toxins and does it slowly so as to not flush natural bacteria and liquids from your body...in other words no diarrhea! I'm already a pretty healthy eater and take a daily multi vitamin but my friend suggested if I wasn't to do so, so that I would replenish any lost nutrients. So the program required me to take 3 pills in the morning and 2 at night (with my already large amount of 9 pills I take in my vitamin multipack...but hey what's a guy to do? The end result? I felt better in 2 days,no pain, felt healthier, lost 4 lbs, had more energy, and better bowel movements..all without the nasty embarrassing effects of the other body flushes! Now as part of my health regimine I take a weekly total body cleanse 1 week a month.

  • 8-3-2017 I'm not an expert, I'm just offering common sense. Let's talk about Intelligent Design. Your colon was designed to carry toxic waste. Get used to it. Your colon will NEVER be a nice place, it will ALWAYS be full of s**t. That's what it was designed for. If you are dumping regularly, your colon is as healthy as it will ever be. If you have any doubts, the first thing you need to do is eat more vegetables. Veggies are part of the Intelligent Design, you know. The fiber cleans the pipes. If you want some extra cleaning action, try a couple tablespoons of unprocessed miller's bran (in the cereal section of your grocery store) mixed into milk or juice. If you can't notice any difference, your colon is as clean as it needs to be. As for the process marketed as "colon cleanse", it gives me the willies. Your colon is a store of minerals that haven't been absorbed yet. The only way to cleanse it is don't eat for a few days. I have seen some people who tried it. They were very diligent and carefully followed instructions. It is important to follow instructions because the process can hurt you if you don't do it right. The first thing I notice about these people is red blotches, usually around the knuckles but also faintly visible on other parts. The blotches are a symptom of mineral deficiencies. When I talk to them I get the impression that they are nervous, as if they itch all over. That is also a symptom of mineral deficiencies. Since mineral deficiencies are so common in the USA, I would recommend that you seek medical advice and tests before beginning such a regimen. It would also be interesting to get a nutritional analysis of that rabbit food that is a central part of the process. Alfalfa is supposed to be a great food, but only if it is unprocessed. In my opinion, even if the colon cleanse works as claimed it is something you don't need. If you have actual complaints about the operation of your colon you need to see a doctor. Or just eat your vegetables.
