Follow the top radiator hose to the engine, there you will find a half round housing, it's in there. Becarefull if you do it yourself, MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY COOL.

where exactly do you find the thermostat in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am 2.4 L?

No it's not!!! I did mine this weekend and I thought it was there, wasn't my time and not easy to get to...on the housing where the hoses connects to, mine says "Thermostat located at water pump" which I believe is under the timing chain cover. Not something I want to tackle.
