Not ALL people. Only when babies are born from Muslim parents. They are whispered a few prayers that "make them Muslim" and the males are circumcised before that. So realistically, any child born that way has no right to choose their religion, they are already made Muslim.

actually not a stupid question.. An intrestin question.. I kno many people who are muslims.. and yes they do beleive that every one even non-muslim people are actually born as muslims until parents from what ever religion make changes, or as babies/children get older they make changes and decision themselves... Yes, belief in one God, which is the essence of Islam, is innate in us it's part of human nature. It is called "deenul fitra" the natural faith that God has instilled every human being with. HQ 30:30. says "So set thy purpose for the religion, as a man upright by nature, (this is) the nature (framed) by God, in which He hath created man. There is no altering (of the laws of) God's creation. That is the right religion, but most people know not." When they grow up people might end up in other religions by parental influence or otherwise. This is why those who embrace Islam in their life are called reverts to Islam, because they are coming back to the strict belief in one God that they started life with. . This young man made a conscious decision to become a 'born again' evangelical Christian leaving the faith he'd grown up with. Later on he decided to embrace Islam and is settled in it because he found it "APPEALING TO MY SOUL" which is what we were saying above. .

muslims believe that all people who are not practicing islam have turned from God and are infidels. they are allowed to be destroyed, only after being allowed or asked or coersed to return to their "true" faith. once these infidels refuse, the warnings, then they are able to be marked for purging. and free game. practicing muslims who turn from the faith are immediately free for purging without asking them to return. to include, flogging, stoning,marking,purging by removal of offending hand, etc and death

My understanding is that this is a widespread Muslim belief. Many Muslims believe that we are all born Muslims and that we would naturally grow up Muslims if it were not for parents and others teaching us other religions. The argument seems to be based on a belief that Islam is a natural pure original religion from God and that other religions are at best corruptions of Islam. I do not believe this myself though.I would say that all people including Muslims are born as Atheists. If you define Atheism as the absence of a belief in God, then all babies are Atheists.
