It began as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Similarly named festival holidays occur in Germany and Japan." For my family it usually involves a gathering of family and friends and involves turkey and dressing/ stuffing or ham (sometimes dressed with pineapple, cherries, cloves) cranberries/cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes green bean casserole,mashed potatoes n gravy, some sort of bread (cornbread, dinner rolls, croissant) pumpkin and/ or pecan pie. And an American football game usually one or more on tv and a 'touch' football game with family. Thanksgiving Day in the United States is on the fourth Thursday of November which falls on the 23rd this year. Happy Thanksgiving y'all

In the US, Thanksgiving Day is observed on the last Thursday in November. There are other countries that celebrate Thanksgiving. Canada, Germany and Japan to name some. I see it as a day to have a day off from work, gathering with my family, giving thanks for perceived blessings and having turkey on the menu. 🦃
