Well. Personally, it makes me think of jigsaws. I remember doing a jigsaw with my gran when I was little and on the box it said, 'with light hearted whimsical pieces'. I remember smiling at the word. Then eating a biscuit.. ;)

To me, whimsical implies the use of feathers. What I mean by that is, I picture a couple of little girls playing dress-up. They carefully select their outfits to imitate their mother's. But being little girls, they don't consider their outfits complete until they add a bit of whimsy, such as feathers. I think we, as adults, lose our since of whimsy. How often do you see a lady dressed in feathers? How sad.
