I'd say New Orleans for one where you can always seem to find some live music somewhere in the are area of Bourbon Street in the French Quarter and then either Nashville where people perform just to be heard and Orlando, Florida where people just try to be heard to be discovered.

Austin, Texas has TONS of live music and lots of nightlife.

I'd recommend Melbourne Australia massive band scene, loads of international acts as well as local ones hundreds of venues from small intimate right up to big stadium you have a choice of bands every night of the week!

Boston. I went to conservatory there and there was a real good concert available everynight of the week. Fell in love with Malher performed by hugh orchestras and choirs in small concert halls.
